Smutty Friends

As some of you are probably already aware, I have a good friend that’s an erotic artist. Luckily, she lives close by so we actually get to meet face-to-face as well as exchanging emails. Sometimes, we don’t see each other for a while as life gets in the way, so when we meet up we always have lots to talk about. Usually, it’s smut. And when we met last night, there was no exception. Smut chat was most definitely on the menu.

In the past, Jackie and I have created works based on each other’s work, i.e. I’ve written stories inspired by her paintings or drawings, and vice versa. It’s always nice to chat with a fellow creative person, especially since with her being an artist, she’s got a slightly different perspective to her work than I have – but we agree on so much, too! Things like not getting turned on by our own work – we agreed that as we’re so close to it, it’s work. Work we enjoy – yes – but work nonetheless.

So, while we chatted lots about various naughty things, we did also chat about work-related stuff. As I’m starting to receive submissions in for my mythology anthology, it’s definitely at the forefront of my mind and therefore cover design has been niggling at my brain. So I had a thought; why not get Jackie to paint or draw something for the front cover!? She doesn’t just do erotic art, she does more ‘vanilla’ stuff too, as well as lots of cool mythology-related stuff (including an awesome painting which I have hanging in this very room). I can’t believe I hadn’t thought of it before! So we batted some ideas around and there’s a good chance it’ll come to fruition – particularly as Jackie’s a fan of painting mermaids, and the story I plan to write is about a mermaid!

I’ve also been trying to persuade her to exhibit some of her works at the wonderful Sh! Women’s Erotic Emporiums in London. After I told her a little more about them, she started to get a very thoughtful look on her face… so watch this space 😉
