Sixteen of the Best – Sarah Veitch (ed.)

I came across Palmprint Publishing because of one of their short story competitions. Until then, I was completely unaware of the existence of this small publishing company which specialises in corporal punishment books and short story anthologies. Now, my eyes have been opened. And what a great company they are. As well as publishing dozens of books based on spanking and the like, they also have their own magazine – and it seems there is quite a following.

The first book from this publisher that I’ve read, Sixteen of the Best is the result of previous years’ short story competitions. They’ve published the best of the best, plus a bonus story from editor Sarah Veitch. Although I haven’t read any of Palmprint’s other books to pass comment on this, the stories in this book are certainly of a very high standard. They’re all really well written, and keep to the theme of the book. There’s nothing worse than an anthology which has a theme, then certain stories don’t fit it!

If you’re into BDSM and CP, you’ll doubtless enjoy this book. It’s definitely on the more extreme end, it contains caning and real pain as opposed to the playful slap on the arse you may find in a less niche story. Please pardon the cliche, but this book is definitely what it says on the tin and I’ll be looking out for more from this publisher.
