The fabulous Wendi Zwaduk is here today, telling us all about her characters, Torin and Zoe, who have appeared in both Smut in the City and Smut Alfresco. Take it away, Wendi…

Torin and Zoe…  A Love Story

First, I want to thank Lucy for having me here to talk about my characters. Always fun to hang out with you!! Plus its fun to talk about Zoe and Torin.

Zoe and Torin are from my stories in the Smut in the City Anthology and Smut Alfresco, but they actually started out before both stories. Let me tell you about them.

I had this scene, just one really, of these two people stuck in an elevator. She’s freaking out and he’s a rock star. That’s not why she’s freaking out. She’s claustrophobic. She also knows him because they had a relationship before the elevator scene. I didn’t have anything other than that scene, so I just jotted it down and let them percolate. When they wanted to talk, I’d listen.

I’m one of those writers that will see a sub call and the idea will right then spark. That’s what happened when I saw the call for SITC. Torin and Zoe came out of hiding and started talking. I wrote down their back story, then went back to the elevator. Turns out, the elevator scene was just a snippet (like I figured) and the relationship was much more complicated. I’d also seen an apartment complex in Cleveland, right off Lake Erie, that was the perfect setting for their reuniting. I forgot to mention, theirs, like a lot of my work, is a second chance romance.  Yes, they’re complicated people.

So who are they? Zoe is the submissive and Torin is her dom, but they don’t live the lifestyle 24/7. They also aren’t hardcore like some couples and that’s okay for them.  SITC let them work through some issues they had and Alfresco was the way for them to find out if the love they shared could last. And there’s sex among the daisies—something I’d love to do. I would.

I’ve not written the genesis of their relationship, but I’d like to. One of these days, or maybe even for a future Smut anthology, I’ll do it. I love these two and letting them tell how they got together in the first place feels like it’s the right thing to do…one of these days.

Here’s a snippet from Private Hideaway, from Smut Alfresco:

“Sixty-five. Remember that number.”

“Why?”

“That,” he inched the Jeep forward, “is our lot number.” Torin drove down the winding path to a secluded area of the campground. No other campers or vehicles were visible. He pulled into a gravel path next to a log cabin. Bright orange mums and daisies blossomed in front of the weathered grey building. “There. We’re off the grid. Kind of.” He whipped out a set of keys. “These are the keys to our private hideaway. No one will bother us because no one knows we’re here. We’ve got a dock and a whole open field down the hill a little ways. Plus, I have a surprise for you.”

Zoe rolled her eyes. They were standing on front of a wooden cottage in the middle of a deserted campground. What possible surprises could he have up his sleeve?

Torin slipped out of the vehicle and walked out of her line of sight. Within moments, he returned with a huge bouquet of roses. “These are for you, my love.”

“Thank you.” She buried her face in the sweet crimson blossoms. “You know how much I love these.” Zoe wrapped her free arm around his waist. “Question. How do you know we won’t be interrupted? We’ve had the paparazzi on our tails for the last six months.”

“I know and I’m sorry.” Torin offered his hand. “I want to go for a walk.”

She opened her mouth to protest, but he silenced her with a kiss. Zoe melted into his touch, threading her arms around his neck. His tongue tangled with hers. Torin hoisted her off the packed earth, then carried her into the cabin. The door slapped on the wall and the crack vibrated the tiny building. His footsteps thumped on the hardwood floor. A large bed, clad in fresh white sheets sat in the corner of the quaint room.

“Perfect.” Torin crossed the room to the bed. “I can’t wait.” He smoothed her skirt out of the way, then grabbed the strings at the sides of her panties. “Need you, babe.”

Two New Reviews!

Wow, it seems the cities are getting some great reviews this week!

First, A Taste of London got a fantastic five out of five review from The Jeep Diva. Here’s what they had to say:

“With characters that were crafted with a great deal of fullness in this short read, Lucy Felthouse has managed to capture an intriguing series of sexual interludes that alternate between steamy and naughty with a dash of daring and bravado for effect… Funnily enough, the late-teen early twenty year old male voice was incredibly strong and finely honed, making this book a real treat with an interesting voice and perspective.”

You can read the full review here, and grab the book here.

This is made even more exciting by the fact that my Ellora’s Cave editor loved the second story in this series, A Taste of Paris, and has accepted it for publication! I’ll keep you posted on the details 🙂

Secondly, Smut in the City, which I co-edited with Victoria Blisse has received a five out of five score from Blood, Lust and Erotica!

Here’s what they had to say:

“…a wonderful collection of stories that will have you smiling, giggling, sighing and wanting to experience for yourself all these unique and pleasurable situations.”

You can read the full review here (which has a breakdown of each story), and grab the book here.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to do a happy dance! 😀

The Smut and Magic Extravaganza!

I’ve only just had chance to sit down and write about the fantastic launch which took place last Saturday. Luckily, I’ve had some fabulous guest bloggers to keep you entertained!

So, 27th October brought the Smut and Magic Launch to Sh! Hoxton. And what a night it was! Myself, Victoria Blisse and K D Grace shared the launch, with myself and Victoria launching Smut in the City, and K D launching Lakeland Heatwave Book 2: Riding the Ether. There were readings, there were prizes, there were laughs, and of course, goodies and fizz!

It all started out with a mad dash across London which always happens, no matter how early we set out! We managed to get into the hotel room and back out again in around 20 minutes which is amazing considering I had to get changed and put makeup on. Then we headed up to Hoxton and the Bluu Bar where we all converged, and I lubricated my throat with a couple of vodka and cokes 😉

Jo Takes ChargeThen it was over the road to Sh! where we had a lovely warm welcome from the Sh! Girlz, as always. Jo quickly took charge, handing out balloons (which I’ll explain later) and helping us give out smutty sentences for the giveaways. Fizz and whoopie pies were consumed and soon it was time to begin.

Victoria Reads from Smut in the CityThe lovely Jo introduced the launch and the books in question, and then it was time for the readings to begin! My fellow Northern Bird and partner in crime, Victoria Blisse read some of her story from Smut in the City. It’s set in Manchester and is all about a dull conference and what a couple of attendees do to liven it up. As usual with Victoria’s writing there were funny parts which brought laughs from the audience.

K D Reads from Riding the EtherK D Grace then went all spooky on us by reading a passage from Lakeland Heatwave Book 2: Riding the Ether. It was sexy, saucy, ghostly and demonic, and that’s all I’m saying. I’ve read the book so I, of course, knew what happened but it was still fab to hear it read out by the author in her usual engaging way.

Then, a break. Sh! Lady Renee (who sadly couldn’t be there with us that evening, and was sadly missed) had arranged a Sh! giveaway, whereby we all had a balloon each. Each balloon contained a raffle ticket. Jo drew a ticket and the corresponding ticket popped from a balloon was the winner. And would you believe the winner was…. me! I won a gorgeous Sh! pack with love balls, lubes, massage oils and other luscious goodies – thanks Ladiez!

I honestly don’t remember if we also drew the other raffle at the same time, so I’ll tell  you about it now anyway. Victoria, K D and I all contributed prices to two giveaways, as well as sponsorship from our publishers (thank you Xcite Books and House of Erotica!) which enabled us to also giveaway some Sh! vouchers. We’d all selected sentences from our work, which Victoria kindly printed and brought with her. One sentence was given out, and the other popped into the draw bag. Jo again drew sentences and two lucky winners were presented with their prizes; vouchers, sex toys, books, author swag and much more.

Me Reading from Smut in the CityNext, it was time for my reading from Smut in the City. My tale is set in Rome, which I visited in May. I told the audience this, and the fact that the story was further proof that I’m getting to the stage where I can turn almost anything into a story. I also emphasised that although the story is based in truth (i.e. the setting), I did not, in fact, have sex in the Colosseum. I don’t think anyone (except for the one person that can verify the truth) believed me, but oh well! Anyway, I started to read my tale and although I definitely had not intended certain parts of it to be funny, the filthy minded audience giggled anyway, which of course started me off. Then almost any word or sentence that could be construed in a naughty way, was! I punished my misbehaving listeners by stopping before I got to the sexy part 😉 Ha!

Q & AFinally, K D gave the audience the choice of two readings. The majority voted for the demony part, which I thought was rather fitting, considering how close it was to Halloween. She wrapped it up and then we had a Q&A session. We had quite a few questions from the crowd, which was great. And also lots more laughs! I also signed several copies of Smut in the City and Smut by the Sea (which Sh! also have in stock, as well as Uniform Behaviour, if you’re in the area and want a copy!) which always makes me smile.

Then it was off for dinner and more drinks in Byrons burger bar, just down the road. The fun didn’t end until the wee hours of the morning, and I think everyone was glad that the clocks changed and gave us an extra hour to sleep!

So, to wrap up, I’d like to say a huge thank you to Victoria and K D for being my partners in crime. Many, many, thanks to the girls at Sh! for being such wonderful hosts. And last but not least, thank you to friends, husbands, partners and new friends for attending and supporting us. I appreciate every one of you.

P.S. More thanks to R, especially since I stole some of your photos to add to this blog post 😉

Filthy Friday: Harper Bliss

It’s my pleasure to welcome Harper Bliss to my site today to talk about her fabulous story in Smut in the City.

First of all, thank you Lucy for having me over on your blog. It’s a great honour for me, just as it is an honour to have a story in Smut in the City amongst a whole slew of fabulous writers (still pinching myself). Today I will enlighten you on the inspiration behind my story in Smut in the City, which is called Neighbours and is set in Hong Kong.

Two aspects of the story are drawn from real life. I’ve lived in Hong Kong for the past two years (it’s as crazy as it looks) and the premise of being able to see your neighbours in the shower… Unfortunately, in my case, the only person I ever saw showering in the building opposite mine was a chunky Chinese man, but that’s what fiction is for, of course.

Just to give you an idea, this is the proximity we’re talking about. I took this picture from my balcony.

As you can see, it’s all wrapped up in bamboo scaffolding (yeah, I had to get used to that as well when I first arrived) at the moment, but here’s another shot of the concrete jungle I live in.

Space is the number one luxury in Hong Kong. Personally, thinking of the price per square foot depresses the hell out of me so I try to focus on the positives. In an environment like this, where everyone is literally packed together, you simply can’t help but peep into someone’s living room now and again. When I noticed the call for submissions for an anthology called Smut in the City a loud alarm went off in my head. I live in the New York of the East, with its brazen neon lights and 24-hour lifestyle it’s a far cry from the provincial town I hail from. I just had to write a smutty city story. Hong Kong has made a big impression on me and choosing it as the location for some soapy F/F erotica makes it all the more fun.

Here’s an excerpt from my story Neighbours:

One night, on her tiny balcony, when searching for the harbour in between the skyscrapers obstructing an open view, her gaze had drifted to the apartment building on the left. It was the usual grey affair with a yellow glow beaming through the windows, creating a scattered pattern of city light. From the shower heads towering over plastic curtains she’d learned she was watching a column of bathrooms. Except, on the twelfth floor—at least she guessed it was the same floor as hers—the person in the process of showering obviously didn’t believe in curtains. At first, it didn’t fully register, but as her eyes grew wider and her mouth curled into a smile, Karen had realised she was witnessing quite the revealing shower scene.

The woman on the other side of the window, which wasn’t even matted, lathered soap over her arms, producing white frothy bubbles that stood out against her olive skin. Karen deemed it impossible for the woman not to know that she was on display. The easy conclusion was that she must really enjoy it. At least four other buildings had windows or balconies facing her bathroom. Hundreds of eyes could feast on the way the foam was slipping off the woman’s skin right now. Karen had checked her watch. It was just past eight, around the time half of professional Hong Kong arrived home from work. Apart from an exhibitionist streak, the woman also had excellent timing.

Karen had soon learned that the showering woman was a recurring phenomenon and she found herself drawn to her balcony every time she stepped inside her flat. Some nights, after a rough day in the office dealing with incompetent suppliers, she’d rush home instead of going for the usual after work drinks with her colleague Andy, and could only relax with a glass of wine on her balcony, eyes glued to the illuminated window across from her. Once, when stuck in traffic after a gruelling meeting, she’d gotten out of the cab and half-jogged home to make it in time for the show. She wasn’t exactly proud of it, but Karen felt that her own vices were easily eradicated by the woman’s.

Thanks again for having me, Lucy!

Filthy Friday: Lucy Felthouse

Yep, I’m welcoming myself to Filthy Friday again! This time, though, I’m going to tell a little about my story in Smut in the City

My tale, Within the Crumbling Walls is set at the Colosseum in Rome. Why, you might ask? Well, it’s simple. I visited Rome for the first time in May and did lots of exploring, so it made sense to set my story in that particular city, as I suspected popular cities others would have chosen would be Paris and London. Oddly, we didn’t have one set in Paris, which surprised me.

When I visited the Colosseum, I noticed an area that had been fenced off to the public. It made me a laugh a little that that particular area had been deemed unsafe, when the entire building was ancient and crumbling. Then I went on my merry way, exploring the awe-inspiring structure. But obviously that particular thing stuck with me, as when I sat down to think about what I was going to write about, I decided on Rome, and then the Colosseum. And that’s how my characters ended up doing naughty things in an ancient monument.

So, there you have it. Another insight into how my crazy mind comes up with story ideas.

Sunday Snog – Within the Crumbling Walls

Sunday Snog

Smut in the CityHere’s a saucy snippet from Within the Crumbling Walls, my Rome-set erotic story from the Smut in the City anthology, which contains hot city-themed erotic stories, edited by myself and Victoria Blisse.

Leaning on a barrier and looking out, Libby saw that arena “floor” was not an accurate description. At one end of the enormous structure, a wooden base had been erected, but the rest of the oval was open, displaying what lay beneath. It looked like a labyrinth, and suddenly she became aware of an English-speaking tour guide telling his group the history of the place. She eavesdropped for a while, then fell to thinking how lucky she was to have been born in this day and age. She’d never know anyone who’d be thrown to their deaths in such a place—or be forced to watch them killed in such a brutal manner.

A little shudder ran down her spine as she thought of the horrific violence that had taken place in the structure. Yet now it sat majestic and even quite serene as thousands of tourists per day wandered within its boundaries. Her morbid thoughts reminded her how alive she was, and what a good life she had. A great job, fantastic boyfriend, and the means to be here, in Rome, visiting the Colosseum. Not everyone was so fortunate.

As if he’d read her thoughts, Ciaran slipped his arms around her shoulders and pulled her into a hug, and pressed a kiss to her hair.

“It’s great, isn’t it?” he said, grinning down at her. “Such an interesting place, and yet it has such a horrible history.”

Libby nodded. “I was just thinking something pretty similar myself.”

“Ah, you see, great minds think alike.” He leaned down to kiss her and she returned it eagerly, closing her eyes and opening her mouth to admit his tongue. With the sun beating down on her and her previous thoughts of feeling very alive, Libby suddenly felt horny. Despite her dislike of over the top public displays of affection, she managed to forget the crowds that were milling round them and enjoyed a long and delicious kiss with Ciaran. She only pulled away when her hormone level suddenly shot up to fever pitch and urged her to take things to the next level.

She stepped back a little, opening her eyes and squinting in the sudden light. Then she sucked in a lungful of air and felt her cheeks heat up as she realised she’d just gotten hot and heavy with her man in front of dozens of complete strangers. Not that it would have been better if it had been dozens of people she knew—but still, they’d gone way past a chaste kiss on the lips in public, and now she was embarrassed.

Giving Ciaran a wry grin, she nodded in the direction they needed to go to see the rest of the Colosseum, and asked, “Ready to see everything else?”

“Sure am, baby.” His eyes glinted with amusement, and if she wasn’t mistaken, arousal. Libby’s gaze flicked down to her boyfriend’s crotch, and a fresh rush of heat rushed to both her cheeks and her groin when she saw the erection he was sporting pressing against his cargo trousers. It wouldn’t have been nearly so noticeable had he been wearing jeans, but of course, it was far too hot for denim. And now, as her libido went crazy, Libby decided it was far too hot for any clothes at all, and wished more than anything that the crowds would disappear and leave her and Ciaran totally alone and able to act on their lust.

Unfortunately, the crowds didn’t disappear. They didn’t even lessen, and Libby was left with the choice of sucking it up and continuing their visit, or grabbing Ciaran and dragging him all the way back to their hotel for sex. That would mean going back on the Metro, avoiding smelly people and pickpockets, then heading through the busy area they were staying in—and all in extreme heat. She shook her head. No, she’d shove her sudden friskiness to the back of her mind and act on it later. For now, they had an ancient monument to explore. They wouldn’t be in Rome again any time soon, so they should make the most of it.

Also, don’t forget to head back to Victoria’s site and see what other luscious lip to lip action other authors have posted. Yum!
