Murder and Mystery in the Peak – Roly Smith
As one of several books I’ve read on the Peak District and the surrounding area, it’s inevitable that some of the tales will overlap. However, there was still plenty in this book that I didn’t know already. So Murder and Mystery in the Peak is yet another title that will continue to reside in my ridiculously large collection of books. It contains some really creepy tales that I’d never heard before, like the gruesome and brutal Pottery Cottage murders that took place high up in the Peak in the depths of winter. They definitely sent a shudder up my spine!
There’s not an awful lot more I can say about a book like this. The information is thorough, and helpfully illustrated with photographs, drawings and poems etc, so you get a real sense of the story that is being told. Definitely great inspiration for a writer!
If you’re a local history buff or you just like stuff like this, this is another fab book you should add to your collection.
