The Dead Girls’ Dance: The Morganville Vampires Book 2 – Rachel Caine

The Dead Girls’ Dance is book number two of The Morganville Vampires. By now, we know many of the main characters, and they’re getting to know each other a little better, too.

This novel follows directly on from the first. **spoiler alert**. At the end of the last book, Shane was at a loss as to how the residents of the Glass House were going to get out of their current scrape alive. So, he picked up his cell phone and called his dad. His psycho-scary vampire-hunter father. He didn’t turn up in time to help them out of their mess, but when he does eventually arrive, rather than solving any problems, he stirs up a whole load more.

Shane lost his sister and mother to Morganville and its residents, so he understandably harbours a lot of bitterness. So does his father. This becomes apparent in both men as the book continues. It turns out that the vampires know of Shane’s father, and what he’s been up to. And they don’t approve.

Therefore, Claire, Shane, Eve and Michael are dragged into the middle of trouble once more. They just want a quiet life, but with Shane’s father around, and the vampires trying to track him down, it’s just not going to happen. All they can do is sit and wait it out, and hope they don’t get their veins tapped in the process…

Another vamp-tastic, fang-filled (sorry) book. The action has you flipping pages rapidly in order to find out what happens next. It’s very addictive. Overall, an excellent book two from Rachel Caine. And onto the third…
