My Writing Process Blog Tour #mywritingprocess
I was tagged by K D Grace to take part in this blog tour/hop thingy-ma-jig, so here goes! Basically I answer four questions about my writing process and tag three other writers who will blog next week. They’ll then tag three writers, and so on…
1) What am I working on?
I’m currently working on my next novel, The Persecution of the Wolves, which is a paranormal erotic romance and suspense – a bit of a mouthful, I know, but it’s been so much fun to write and is my longest work to date. Once it’s finished (hopefully soon) I’ll be giving it a breather for a few weeks, then coming back and doing a second draft, then sending it to beta readers. Hopefully I’ll have it sent to a publisher within a couple of months.
2) How does my work differ from others of its genre?
I suppose that would be down to my “voice.” I don’t ever try and write like someone else. I just write in a way that feels natural to me without worrying too much about it, and then it sounds like me. And nobody else can sound exactly like me, can they? Just like I can’t sound exactly like someone else.
3) Why do I write what I do?
Because I got into it as part of a dare and never looked back. I found I enjoyed writing erotica, then I branched out into erotic romance, and now I write all kinds of things, all of which are smutty in one way or another. I’ll probably write mainstream books at one point, but while I still have all these sexy books crowding in my brain, waiting to be written, I’ll keep going.
4) How does your writing process work?
I don’t think I have one, not really. For the most part, my writing takes a back seat to running my business (http://www.writermarketing.co.uk) as the business is guaranteed cash – someone paying me to work for them. Whereas earning an income from writing is much more unpredictable. So I squeeze my writing in around everything else that I do, and somehow books get finished, edited and sent to publishers. By some miracle, most of them get published! During NaNoWriMo last year things reversed and my novel took precedence over everything else, which was interesting – especially since the book still isn’t finished! As I write this post, it’s at just over 85k and still going… maybe three or four chapters to go. Watch this space.
Thanks for stopping by! I only got one response from the authors I tagged, so here goes…
Alison Tyler is loyal to coffee (black), lipstick (red), and tequila (straight). She has tattoos, but no piercings; a wicked tongue, but a quick smile; and bittersweet memories, but no regrets. She believes it won’t rain if she doesn’t bring an umbrella, prefers hot and dry to cold and wet, and loves to spout her favorite motto: You can sleep when you’re dead. She chooses Led Zeppelin over the Beatles, the Cure over NIN, and the Stones over everyone. Yet although she appreciates good rock, she has a pitiful weakness for 80s hair bands.
In all things important, she remains faithful to her partner of eighteen years, but she still can’t choose just one perfume.
