A Sneak Peek from Fast Lust #preorder #99c #comingsoon
Hi everyone,
The long weekend has got me scrabbling to catch up, so I missed out on Mid Week Tease this week, sadly. But I decided to share an excerpt with you anyway. My story, Fast Lust, is now completed, edited and ready to go into the upcoming British Bad Boys Boxed Set, so I thought I’d give you a sneak peek. This is a snippet from the very beginning of the story, so we haven’t even met the sexy biker hero yet, but I will be using this story in my Mid Week Tease posts for a few weeks, so you’ll be able to enjoy him soon enough. Or you could just pre-order the set and enjoy the whole story, plus six other awesome bad boy tales, on the 4th May! š

Gloria Heath gaped at her boss, Graeme, unsure if sheād heard him correctly. No, no, she couldnāt have heard him correctly, because she thought heād said he wanted her to go and cover the first round of the British Superbikes at Donington Park. She shook her head and chuckled. He must have said The Great British Bake Off. That sounded similar, didnāt it?
Graeme frowned. āSomething funny, Gloria?ā
She snapped her focus back to her editor and smiled. āSorry. I must be going deaf, or mad, because I thought you said you wanted me to cover some motorbike race.ā
His expression was stony. āI did,ā he replied coolly. āDo you have a problem with that?ā
Blinking, she opened her mouth, then closed it again. Narrowing her eyes, she said, āBut Iām a lifestyle reporter. I coverāā
āIām well aware of what you cover, Gloria. Iāve been your boss for three yearsādonāt you think Iām familiar with what you write by now?ā He sighed. āI know itās not your usual thing, and is way out of your comfort zone, but donāt you think a change would be nice? A bit of a challenge for you?ā
Gulping, she replied, āA ch-challenge? Graemeā¦ did I do something wrong?ā
He rolled his eyes. āItās an article, Gloria, not a bloody punishment. No, you didnāt do anything wrong. Your work is exemplaryāalways has been, and Iām sure it always will be. But I have one of the sports writers off sick, with no one else available to take his place, and not covering the first round of the British Superbikes is tantamount to blasphemy for our motorsport readers.ā
A feeling of dread settled in her stomach, making her nauseous. āDo Iā¦ have a choice?ā
Graeme raised his eyebrows. āIām an editor, not a dictator. But come on, Gloria, do me a favour here. Like I said, thereās no one else to take his placeāyouāre the only one with time in your schedule. If Iām not mistaken, the stuff youāre currently working on isnāt time-sensitive. Sundayās race, however, is.ā He leaned forward and put his elbows on the desk, then flashed her a smile. āWeāll even put you up in a nice hotel, right near to the track. One little article, Gloria. Youāll be saving my life. Please.ā
Gloria knew when she was beaten. Graeme wouldnāt force her, she knew that, but it was clearly very important to him. And heād never asked her to do something like this beforeāhe was generally very laid back, and let her get on with writing pretty much whatever she wanted to. So one article out of her comfort zoneāalbeit way out of her comfort zoneāwas the least she could do. āAll right,ā she said resignedly. āIāll do it, for you. But you have to give me a full briefing on what exactly youāre looking for. The last thing I want is to end up writing something where Iāve taken completely the wrong angle.
āAnd,ā she added, āwhere the hell is Donington Park, anyway?ā
Graemeās expression turned despairing. āIn the Midlands, Gloria. Near Derby and Nottingham. North of Watford Gap.ā
āBloody hell, thatās miles away! Have I got to drive? Iāll need a pool car.ā
āDrive, get the train, hell, you can even fly. The circuitās next door to a bloody airport. I donāt care, as long as you go, all right?ā
She folded her arms. āThe train will be fine. Though a first class ticket wouldnāt go amiss.ā
Graeme rolled his eyes. āDone.ā
āAnd about the briefingā¦ā
āOf course! I wouldnāt send you in there unprepared. Right, you go and carry on with whatever you were doing while I get all the arrangements sorted. Come and see me when you get here tomorrow morning, and weāll go through everything you need to know.ā She nodded and stood up, then turned to leave. āOh, and Gloria?ā She turned back. āThank you. I really do appreciate it.ā
āYouāre welcome, boss. Just donāt make a habit of it, all right?ā She winked to show she was joking.
Grinning, he waved a hand at her. āGo on, get out. Iāll see you in the morning.ā
