Michelle Roth Introduces Her Latest Series (@mroth_author)

Hi there, everyone! I’m Michelle Roth and I’m here to introduce my latest release, Bite Me. It’s the second in my vampire paranormal series, The Transfigured Ones. Magnus Corbett, my hero, was modeled a bit after Gordon Ramsey. I wanted him to be a rough around the edges guy who didn’t necessarily have time for love. I knew, whoever I matched him with would either need to be a bad ass chick who didn’t take any crap.. or she’d need to be so sweet that she called to the softer side of him. Caroline Lundquist is both of those things.

If you’ve got any questions about the book, for me as the author, or about the series in general, feel free to use the #transfiguredones hash tag and I’ll do my best to answer!

Bite MeBlurb:

Magnus Corbett is the world renowned head chef for Usquebaugh, the wildly popular restaurant and whiskey bar inside the Foxwood Hotel and Casino. He’s certain that it was his status as one of the Transfigured that put him on the map. It will be bold flavors and his tireless work ethic that keep him there. And, if he has to be a little blunt to get things done? So be it.

When bar manager, Caroline Lundquist, develops a line of cocktails to breathe some life into the drink menu, she’s determined to have new gin-inspired dishes to pair with them. During their collaboration she finds herself falling for the side of Magnus that people rarely see. He’s sweet. Compassionate. Caring. As they begin to navigate the perils of a vampire-human relationship, both of their pasts crop up, threatening to destroy everything they’re working so hard to build together.

  1. If you had a free day with no responsibilities and your only mission was to enjoy yourself, what would you do?Free time? What’s that? I don’t get much, but I prefer to fiddle in the kitchen or read a book. I deal with people day in and day out, so when it comes to my downtime, I can be a bit selfish.
  2. What impression do you make on people when they first meet you? How about after they’ve known you for a while?I’ve lived a long time. If I expend any time or energy on someone, I tend to expect a lot. I try to weed out the assholes, liars, and other bad apples. People probably find that incredibly abrasive. In the end, once I feel like I can trust someone, they know that I’m loyal. My own family kind of checked out on me, so I sort of make my own.
  3. What’s your idea of a good marriage? Do you think that’ll happen in your life?I grew up in a typical stodgy British home. I doubt my parents even liked each other, let alone loved each other. I haven’t a clue what makes a good marriage. I’d hold on to it tightly if I ever thought I found it, though.
  4. What are you most proud of about your life?I’m a world renowned chef. I can work anywhere I choose. I did that in spite of this being a non-Transfigured dominated industry.

 – And what about something more personal?

Living your dream? Making something out of nothing? How is that not personal? Did you write these bloody questions?

– Why is that so meaningful to you?

I did it completely on my own. My family kicked me when I was seventeen. I managed to finish high school and go to culinary school on my own. There was no silver spoon or college fund. I did it on my own.

  1. What are you most ashamed of in your life?I could have been nicer to people, looking back. I don’t always have to be so abrupt. I find it easier, though. I definitely could have been nicer.
  2. If you could spend the day with someone you admire (living or dead or imaginary), who would you pick?Auguste Escoffier. The man was bloody brilliant. I’d love to sit down and pick his brain.
  3. Do you think you’ve turned out the way your parents expected?I don’t think they had much hope for me. They pretty much checked out of my life when they found out I was Transfigured. Then they fought for the next decade or so about who had the faulty genetics. I don’t think they thought much about me at all. I’d love to say I didn’t think of them, but it would be a lie. I do. And it’s not kindly.
  4. What do you believe about God? What do you suppose God thinks of you? There’s a lot of pain and suffering in the world. People get sick. People lose loved ones to horrible accidents. Meanwhile, there are some of us who live forever whether we want to or not. It doesn’t seem fair. I’m not sure a kind and loving god would do something like that.
  5. Is there anything you’ve always wanted to do but haven’t done? What would happen if you did it?It’s been roughly forty years since I’ve been to the beach during the day. I’d love to do that but it would destroy my skin and eventually kill me. Painful.
  6. What’s the worst thing that’s happened in your life? What did you learn from it?I’d probably say that my family is the worst thing to happen to me. What kind of awful parents withhold love from a child because of a genetic defect they can’t control? No matter whether my children are Transfigured or not, I’d love them. That’s what I learned, I guess. Tolerance.
  7. Tell me about your best friend.Veronica is my best friend and my sous chef. She’s probably one of the few people who puts up with my crap. I trust her implicitly. She’s probably the closest thing that I have to a sister.
  8. What’s the worst thing you’ve ever done to someone? Why?Despite the fact I’m a bit of a prick sometimes, I don’t intentionally hurt people. I’ve had to fire a few wayward souls, but that’s about it. They either stole, lied, or didn’t know their ass from a hole in the ground.
  9. What would you like it to say on your tombstone?Since we pretty much just turn to a pile of ash, a tombstone seems a bit much.
  10. Describe your ideal mate. She’d need to be strong. Someone who didn’t take any of my garbage. She’d have to be engaging. A good conversationalist. Well read. Smart. Funny. Beautiful wouldn’t hurt but it’s not a prerequisite. Not a bloody stick figure. She’d need to enjoy eating, because I would enjoy cooking for her. Taking care of her in that way.
  11. What are you most afraid of? Being alone for eternity. The usual suspects.
  12. What’s the most important thing in your life? What do you value most?My space. I can only handle so much social interaction, so having my personal space is hugely important. I feel like, with time alone, I recharge.
  13. What do you like best about yourself? Least?I’m driven to succeed. I prefer to be solitary most of the time. I know that’s not exactly healthy.
  14. How do you feel about your life right now? What, if anything, would you like to change?I’ve got a good life, for the most part. I’m happy with my career. I’d like to find someone to settle down with, though.
  15. Are you lying to yourself about something? What is it?There’s a part of me that wishes that I wasn’t so solitary, that wants to be outgoing and friendly. I want to be social, and happy go lucky. I just don’t trust people.
  16. What trait do you most deplore in others?People who lack common sense. Critical thinking skills are important in life, and there are people who don’t develop them or refuse to. Drives me bloody mad!

About Michelle:

Michelle Roth is a novelist from the Great White North (Toronto, ON). When she’s not disappearing into foreign lands, or making two perfect strangers that she invented fall in love, she’s probably curled up somewhere with a glass of wine and a good book.

In her spare time she is typically hanging out with her awesome boyfriend and their two equally awesome cats. She likes taking road trips to nowhere in particular, cooking elaborate meals then making other people do the dishes, and being nerdy on the internet. Her books are currently available on Amazon, Nook, Kobo, and any other place that sells absolutely filthy romance novels.
