There was only one thing for it—he’d have to use his hand.

Discarding the stick with more eagerness than he’d admit to, he reached out and stroked Roxanne’s burning cheeks. “Okay for a few with my hand?” he asked.

“Yes.” She was breathless, and sounded as though she was on the verge of tears, but if she wanted him to stop, she’d have said so. Corporal Roxanne Grey was no pushover, which was why they were in this situation in the first place.

Shrugging, he altered his position once more and whacked her right cheek. Then the left.
