Mid Week Tease: “…they were buying online, loading up eReaders… all for her little book!” #MWTease

MWTease15Hi everyone,

Welcome back to Mid Week Tease! This week, I’m sharing another tease from my story, The Next Big Thing, which appears in the just-released Brit Babes BDSM/Billionaires anthology, Sexy Just Got Rich: Brit Babes Do Billionaires, which is just $0.99/99p for a limited time! It follows on from last week’s.

Sexy Just Got Rich: Brit Babes Do BillionairesShe should just relax and go with the flow. Though she still couldn’t get over the fact that people were not only buying her book—they were queuing to buy it. Patiently, too, despite the glacial speed at which they were moving forward. Did they only have one till open, or something?

People had joined the line behind her as she’d been ruminating, and she shuffled around slightly so she could see how many more were waiting. Shit—there were loads! She couldn’t even see the end of the queue.

Her surprise must have shown on her face, because the man behind her let out a chuckle. “It’s crazy, isn’t it?” he said. “All these people waiting to buy a book when we could have purchased online—probably cheaper—and had it delivered directly to our doors. Or in a single click, have it appear on our eReaders.”

Catriona hadn’t even thought of that. So, not only were people here, in the bookstore—and presumably stores all over the country, too—they were buying online, loading up eReaders… all for her little book!

“Uh, yes,” she replied, before the man thought she was rude, or a mute. “It is, but I like to buy from bookshops wherever possible—you know, give them my support. The supermarkets and the internet get enough of my money as it is.”

Mid Week Tease: “…what happened next was completely out of her hands.” #MWTease

MWTease15Hi everyone,

Welcome back to Mid Week Tease! This week, I’m sharing another tease from my story, The Next Big Thing, which appears in the just-released Brit Babes BDSM/Billionaires anthology, Sexy Just Got Rich: Brit Babes Do Billionaires, which is just $0.99/99p for a limited time! It follows on from last week’s.

Sexy Just Got Rich: Brit Babes Do BillionairesSurreptitiously, Catriona pinched the back of her hand. Wincing, she figured she had to get her head around this situation, and fast. It was only going to get bigger and crazier—or so the publisher’s marketing team, a bunch of young, attractive and scarily glamorous people, had told her.

She’d already seen plenty of evidence of their expenditure on the way over—billboards, bus shelters, ads on the Underground; all displaying huge versions of her book cover, proclaiming it a bestseller, quoting stellar reviews and even lauding it “the next big thing” and “the next Fifty Shades of Grey.” One strap line even said “Who needs Christian Grey when you’ve got Eliza Dickinson?”

It was the fact that her book had even been compared to the first big thing that she couldn’t quite grasp.

The Fifty Shades phenomenon had spawned merchandise, sex toys and even a film. But it was just a one-off, wasn’t it? Something that couldn’t be replicated, shouldn’t be replicated.

Catriona certainly hadn’t set out to write a book to appeal to the same readership. All she’d done was take out her real life frustrations—both sexual and otherwise—on the keyboard of her laptop. The rest had simply been a freak of nature.

How could it appeal to the same readership, anyway? Her characters were the complete opposite of E.L. James’—her lead female, Eliza, was a dominatrix, and Leon her willing sub. Or he was by the end of the book, anyway.

It didn’t matter. None of it mattered. Her book was out, today, and what happened next was completely out of her hands.

Mid Week Tease: “Heart pounding and palms clammy, Catriona forced herself to put one foot in front of the other…” #MWTease

MWTease15Hi everyone,

Welcome back to Mid Week Tease! This week, I’m sharing a tease from my story, The Next Big Thing, which appears in the just-released Brit Babes BDSM/Billionaires anthology, Sexy Just Got Rich: Brit Babes Do Billionaires, which is just $0.99/99p for a limited time!

Sexy Just Got Rich: Brit Babes Do BillionairesHeart pounding and palms clammy, Catriona forced herself to put one foot in front of the other and walked into the bookshop. It was bedlam. She’d never seen a bookshop so busy in her life.

She paused just inside the door. What the fuck was she doing? If someone saw her, recognised her—

She shook her head sharply and clenched her fists until her fingernails dug into her flesh, the nipping pain bringing her back to her senses.

No one would recognise her, she reminded herself, because no one knew who she was. Well, people knew who she was—but not in relation to the reason she was here.

Taking a deep breath and attempting to behave like a normal person, she continued through the shop, trying to figure out where she needed to be. Not that she even needed to be here at all. It was insanity that had drawn her out of her Thames-side apartment and into the bowels of the Tube, and finally into the huge Piccadilly bookstore.

What else but insanity would make a person head into central London to buy a copy of a book on the same day it came out? Especially when one already had a large box of copies of said book stuffed into the bottom of one’s wardrobe. Complimentary author copies, according to the note from the publisher.

Maybe it was curiosity, she thought, as she joined the back of the queue snaking across the ground floor of the shop. Nobody nearby was holding a copy of the book yet, so she assumed that somewhere between here and the till there was a stack of the paperbacks, ready to be picked up and paid for. And presumably read. Christ.

Mid Week Tease: “It was all completely irrelevant, anyway. Balkhi was not gay.” #MWTease

MWTease15Hi everyone,

Welcome back to Mid Week Tease! This week, I’m sharing a tease from my just-released M/M military/interracial erotic romance novella, Desert Heat, which was originally part of the Unconditional Surrender boxed set.

Desert HeatIt was mainly Hunter that kept him firmly in the closet. If the news reached that old bigot’s ears—and it undoubtedly would, as gossip spread like wildfire in the military—well, Wilkes didn’t really want to think about what would happen. Nothing good, anyway.

He shook his head, trying to uproot the unpleasant thoughts before they took hold. It was silly, in any case. Yes, Balkhi was kind of cute, but he was an Afghan, and a Muslim, for Christ’s sake. Both were known for being even more bigoted than his damn boss. If Wilkes came out, things wouldn’t exactly be easy—but a Muslim? Things could turn out very badly for him back home, to put it lightly. That was reason enough for any gay Muslims that existed to keep quiet about their sexuality.

It was all completely irrelevant, anyway. Balkhi was not gay. And even if he was, there was no way Wilkes was going there—it was just too risky for all those concerned. Careers, friendships, relationships and lives would be at stake.

Put it out of your mind. What the hell is wrong with you? The first sniff of a bloke you’re attracted to and you’re thinking about the consequences? Ridiculous. Forget about it and get on with your bloody job, you idiot.

Mid Week Tease: “Zach finally had some sort of a plan taking shape.” #MWTease

MWTease15Hi everyone,

Welcome back to Mid Week Tease! This week, I’m sharing another tease from my M/F erotic romance novella, A Different Kind of Cosplay. It’ll appeal to the Marvel geeks amongst you. This snippet follows on directly from last week’s.

A Different Kind of Cosplay“No!” His spoon clanged into his bowl. “Fuck’s sake, no. I was being genuine—I meant every word. Just take it as it was intended, okay?”

“Okay,” she replied, still sounding unsure. “Thank you, then. I love you too.”

Grabbing his empty bowl, the spoon and his mug, Zach drained the rest of the tea and put the stuff in the dishwasher. Stepping over to Reese, he kissed her.

“See you later, babe. Have a fun time at Forbidden Planet.”

“I will, thanks. It’s in the West End, by the way. Shaftesbury Avenue.”

“Huh?” he said, frowning, pretending he had no idea what she was talking about, and especially not that he’d said “wherever” in the hope she’d mention the store’s location.

“The shop. It’s on Shaftesbury Avenue. The Covent Garden end. I can go to Candy Cakes too, if you like. Buy a couple of those gorgeous cupcakes. We can have them after dinner.”

“That, my darling, is a fabulous idea. You know I’m a sucker for a cupcake. Especially from that place.”

“I do. Have a good day. Love you.”

“Love you.” Grabbing his bag and heading for the door, Zach finally had some sort of a plan taking shape. He just hoped it would come to something. Reese’s birthday was creeping steadily closer.

Mid Week Tease: “…are you being sarcastic and massively mocking my geek status?” #MWTease

MWTease15Hi everyone,

Welcome back to Mid Week Tease! This week, I’m sharing another tease from my brand new M/F erotic romance novella, A Different Kind of Cosplay, which released last week. It’ll appeal to the Marvel geeks amongst you. This snippet follows on directly from last week’s.

A Different Kind of CosplayA few days later, Reese herself provided him with inspiration. They were at the kitchen table, sharing a rare breakfast together. It was Reese’s day off, but Zach was due in to work soon, to sell houses to wealthy Londoners.

“What are your plans for today then, babe?” he asked between mouthfuls of cereal.

Chewing and swallowing her own mouthful, she said, without any kind of malice, “Oh, nothing you’d be interested in.”

“No?” he prompted.

“I doubt it.” She smirked. “I’m off to Forbidden Planet to stock up on some graphic novels. I know I could buy them cheaper online, but I like that shop. The atmosphere is great—even though as a lone woman, I get some odd stares—and I just like to go every now and again to check out the latest stuff.” She spooned more cereal into her mouth, consumed it, then continued, “Actually, Mum asked me to let her know what I wanted for my birthday, so it’s a good excuse to go and get some inspiration. I can make a list, if you like. Then you can pick something off it.”

“No, no,” he said quickly, waving his spoon at her and sending a droplet of milk flying, which landed in the middle of the table, “I’ve got it all under control, thank you.” He smiled, the grin growing wider at Reese’s look of surprise. A second later, he wanted to kick himself. What the fuck did you say that for, you idiot? She practically handed you the perfect gift idea on a silver platter, and you turned it down. Moron!

“You know,” he continued, still grinning, “that’s one of the things I love about you. Many women would go to Oxford Street and Regent Street on their day off, shoe and clothes shopping. But you’re heading off to wherever it is to go to a geeky shop. You’re a quirky individual, sweetheart, and I love that.”

Reese raised a brow. “Wow. Where did all that come from?”

“What?”

“The compliments, the declarations of love. Or are you being sarcastic and massively mocking my geek status?”
