The Smut and Magic Extravaganza!

I’ve only just had chance to sit down and write about the fantastic launch which took place last Saturday. Luckily, I’ve had some fabulous guest bloggers to keep you entertained!

So, 27th October brought the Smut and Magic Launch to Sh! Hoxton. And what a night it was! Myself, Victoria Blisse and K D Grace shared the launch, with myself and Victoria launching Smut in the City, and K D launching Lakeland Heatwave Book 2: Riding the Ether. There were readings, there were prizes, there were laughs, and of course, goodies and fizz!

It all started out with a mad dash across London which always happens, no matter how early we set out! We managed to get into the hotel room and back out again in around 20 minutes which is amazing considering I had to get changed and put makeup on. Then we headed up to Hoxton and the Bluu Bar where we all converged, and I lubricated my throat with a couple of vodka and cokes 😉

Jo Takes ChargeThen it was over the road to Sh! where we had a lovely warm welcome from the Sh! Girlz, as always. Jo quickly took charge, handing out balloons (which I’ll explain later) and helping us give out smutty sentences for the giveaways. Fizz and whoopie pies were consumed and soon it was time to begin.

Victoria Reads from Smut in the CityThe lovely Jo introduced the launch and the books in question, and then it was time for the readings to begin! My fellow Northern Bird and partner in crime, Victoria Blisse read some of her story from Smut in the City. It’s set in Manchester and is all about a dull conference and what a couple of attendees do to liven it up. As usual with Victoria’s writing there were funny parts which brought laughs from the audience.

K D Reads from Riding the EtherK D Grace then went all spooky on us by reading a passage from Lakeland Heatwave Book 2: Riding the Ether. It was sexy, saucy, ghostly and demonic, and that’s all I’m saying. I’ve read the book so I, of course, knew what happened but it was still fab to hear it read out by the author in her usual engaging way.

Then, a break. Sh! Lady Renee (who sadly couldn’t be there with us that evening, and was sadly missed) had arranged a Sh! giveaway, whereby we all had a balloon each. Each balloon contained a raffle ticket. Jo drew a ticket and the corresponding ticket popped from a balloon was the winner. And would you believe the winner was…. me! I won a gorgeous Sh! pack with love balls, lubes, massage oils and other luscious goodies – thanks Ladiez!

I honestly don’t remember if we also drew the other raffle at the same time, so I’ll tell  you about it now anyway. Victoria, K D and I all contributed prices to two giveaways, as well as sponsorship from our publishers (thank you Xcite Books and House of Erotica!) which enabled us to also giveaway some Sh! vouchers. We’d all selected sentences from our work, which Victoria kindly printed and brought with her. One sentence was given out, and the other popped into the draw bag. Jo again drew sentences and two lucky winners were presented with their prizes; vouchers, sex toys, books, author swag and much more.

Me Reading from Smut in the CityNext, it was time for my reading from Smut in the City. My tale is set in Rome, which I visited in May. I told the audience this, and the fact that the story was further proof that I’m getting to the stage where I can turn almost anything into a story. I also emphasised that although the story is based in truth (i.e. the setting), I did not, in fact, have sex in the Colosseum. I don’t think anyone (except for the one person that can verify the truth) believed me, but oh well! Anyway, I started to read my tale and although I definitely had not intended certain parts of it to be funny, the filthy minded audience giggled anyway, which of course started me off. Then almost any word or sentence that could be construed in a naughty way, was! I punished my misbehaving listeners by stopping before I got to the sexy part 😉 Ha!

Q & AFinally, K D gave the audience the choice of two readings. The majority voted for the demony part, which I thought was rather fitting, considering how close it was to Halloween. She wrapped it up and then we had a Q&A session. We had quite a few questions from the crowd, which was great. And also lots more laughs! I also signed several copies of Smut in the City and Smut by the Sea (which Sh! also have in stock, as well as Uniform Behaviour, if you’re in the area and want a copy!) which always makes me smile.

Then it was off for dinner and more drinks in Byrons burger bar, just down the road. The fun didn’t end until the wee hours of the morning, and I think everyone was glad that the clocks changed and gave us an extra hour to sleep!

So, to wrap up, I’d like to say a huge thank you to Victoria and K D for being my partners in crime. Many, many, thanks to the girls at Sh! for being such wonderful hosts. And last but not least, thank you to friends, husbands, partners and new friends for attending and supporting us. I appreciate every one of you.

P.S. More thanks to R, especially since I stole some of your photos to add to this blog post 😉

Filthy Friday: Tamsin Flowers

Hi all. For this week’s Filthy Friday, I have the fabulous Tamsin Flowers, giving us some background on her story in Smut by the Sea, called The Man on the Balcony. Enjoy!

Hi,

Before getting down to business (so to speak), I just wanted to say how thrilled I am to be invited to post on Lucy’s brilliant blog.  It’s my first time, which makes me something of guest blogger virgin – but this has to be one of the best places to pop one’s cherry!

As I’m writing this, I’m looking out of my window onto a howling gale and lashing rain – the leaves are flying off the trees and even when the sun does peek through, there’s no denying – the season’s changed.  Autumn is upon us and all those sun-drenched days of summer holidays, picnics, garden parties and fun on the beach are well and truly behind us.

But I’m not prepared to let go quite yet and I’m certainly not in the mood to turn my thoughts to Christmas.  While I’ve still got the last vestige of the sun tan that was so hard fought for, I want to cling onto that summer holiday mood for just a little longer before bundling up against the cold.  (And as luck would have it, the sun’s just broken through and feels wonderfully warm through the window!)

I don’t know if you’re the same, but for me, one of the best ways to change my mood or recapture a feeling or a memory is to immerse myself in a great story.  Perhaps that’s why I like to write them, too.  It gives me the perfect excuse to indulge in a few fantasies and still be working at the same time.  And I think the perfect remedy to my change-of-season blues has to be dipping into Lucy’s brilliant anthology Smut by the Sea.  Lucy edited this excellent collection with Victoria Blisse and in so doing brought together a great bunch of writers, including Cynthia Rayne, KD Grace, Tabitha Rayne, MA Stacie, Lexie Bay, Cassandra Dean, Tanith Davenport, Justine Elyot, Heidi Champa and Slave Nano.  For someone who is fairly new to writing erotica, I felt honoured to have a story included with such illustrious company.

My story in Smut by the Sea is called The Man on the Balcony.  When Charlie moves into her new apartment the thing she’s most excited about is having a private balcony with a sea view.  So as soon as she’s unpacked, she indulges herself by stripping off and settling down to relax in the sun.  However, her pleasures are interrupted by her noisy next door neighbour taking calls on his balcony; Charlie can’t help but listen in and before she knows it, she’s intrigued…

Here’s a short excerpt to give you a taster if you’re new to my writing and if you’re interested in finding out more, visit my blog, Tamsin’s Superotica:

Happy reading!

Excerpt:

‘Hi,’ said a man’s voice in answer to the call.  ‘No, I’m home now.  Out on the balcony.’

Could be interesting.  I rolled onto my side, angling myself to hear better what the deep velvety voice was saying.  It was a rich, nuanced baritone with just the hint of a west coast accent.

‘Yes…  Just a meeting with the investors this morning.  Thrashed out the payment schedule…’

Boring, boring, boring.  I sank back on my lounger and tried to shut the voice out of my brain but the main droned on and on about percentages and margins and dividends.  I slung a forearm across my face and tried to retreat back into my soft, sun-kissed cocoon.  I used my other hand to softly, gently arouse my nipples, brushing across them, stroking and pinching them until they stood out proud and sent fiery demands coursing through my body.  I writhed on cushions, letting both hands work on the cherry red tips of my breasts, wishing I could bend far enough forward to reach them with my tongue.

Mr Loudmouth next door was still droning on but when I heard him mention the name of a local bar, my ears couldn’t help but prick up.  Mulligans was a place Susie and I went to all the time, whenever we needed to kick back with drinks and dancing, or when we felt in the mood for checking out the local talent.

‘Yeah, I saw her there again,’ he was saying.  ‘Okay, okay, next time.’

He paused, presumably listening to whoever was on the other end of the line.

‘No, I’m gonna say hello, buy her a few drinks…  She’s unbelievable.  Curves, tawny brown skin, deep, dark eyes that could melt Alaska.’  His voice lowered and I was straining to hear him; this was definitely more interesting than his office talk.  ‘There’s just one thing I want to do with her.  We’ll go for a walk on the beach, I’ll take her hand and if she likes it, I’ll kiss her.’

My fingers were starting to do their own walking now as I listened to his plans for his mystery woman.

‘And then…’  A pause.  ‘Of course, I’m gonna fuck her.  Ever tried it?  Sex on the sand?  It’s amazing.  Liberating.’  His voice was starting to sound a little rough, husky even.  I think he was getting turned on at the thought of it.  And why not?  I certainly was.

Filthy Friday: Justine Elyot

I’d like to welcome Justine Elyot to Filthy Friday. She shares some insight into the choice of location and subject for her bittersweet story in Smut by the Sea. Take it away, Justine!

An End of the Pier Affair by Justine Elyot

I knew when I saw the call for Smut By The Sea that I had to send something in. I live in a seaside town, after all. My problem came in deciding which of the many and varied aspects of resort life I wanted to include in my story.

In the end, I found my inspiration at the end of the pier. Every self-respecting seaside town has its Winter Gardens or its Pavilion – the palace of delights built to entertain the summer masses during the sultry evenings of their holiday. An ‘end of the pier show’ is part of the British lexicon, describing a mix and match variety performance of cruise-ship singers, spangly-tight-wearing dance troupes and comedians unsuitable for younger audiences. (‘If easily offended, please stay away,’ the handbills often recommend.)

A lot of these theatres are in financial difficulty now. A night out at a show is no longer an integral part of the British seaside experience – besides, the camping and caravan sites offer their own on-site entertainment for nothing. The summer revenues can’t pay for maintenance of the draughty, ageing buildings. I went backstage at my local specimen earlier this year and was shocked by the dilapidated state of the dressing rooms and corridors. The ‘famous names’ aren’t so famous any more. As my opening paragraph says: “There was a saying in the business that you played Goldsands Winter Gardens twice in your career – once on the way up, once on the way down. This was Mark’s second appearance there.”

The male protagonist of my story, Love In The Low Season, is a faded singer, once popular, now only able to make a bare living in cabaret-style shows at obscure provincial venues. He’s exactly the kind of man who appears in front of eight people on a Wednesday night in February at my local theatre, poor fellow. But I appreciate him, and I appreciate the efforts that are made to keep these places open.

More and more of them are closing every year. I hope mine won’t be next.

Filthy Friday: Lucy Felthouse

Er, yes, that would be me! So, give a big welcome to me as I blog on my own website about Smut by the Sea, for the Filthy Friday series! 😉 *applauds crazy self*

The name of my story in the Smut by the Sea anthology is Dodging. Funny true fact here: when my buddy and fellow editor, Victoria Blisse, first received my story, she thought it said dogging! Oh, how we laughed! 😉

But no, this story has nothing to do with having sex in car parks, flashing lights, etc. Instead, it has to do with a super cute fairground worker and the girl that sets out to seduce him. It’s set in my favourite seaside town–and the one I know best–Hunstanton, which is in Norfolk, East England. It’s a really nice Victorian town with a mix of beautiful buildings and gardens, spectacular beaches and cliffs, and the usual seaside stuff of amusement arcades, fish and chip shops, crazy golf and funfairs. My story, as I’m sure you’ve already guessed, has to do with the fairground, and also the cliffs.

When Victoria came up with the idea of the anthology and asked me to co-edit and contribute, I immediately fell to thinking about the seaside for inspiration. I could have used a foreign beach for a location, but I wanted to write something very British which captured the light-hearted meaning of ‘smut’ and also was very sea-related, if that makes sense. So, I thought about the seaside town in the UK that I know best, and lo and behold, an idea came to me. Sadly, the hot male character is completely fabricated–I’ve never seen a hot guy working at the fair there–and so is the entire situation. But the location is very real, and I’m sure people (not me!) have really had sex on that beach. So it won’t take much imagination to picture the happenings in my naughty story.

Here’s a snippet to whet your appetite:

The thrum of anticipation had been rushing through my body ever since we’d set off that morning. By the time we passed the sign welcoming us to Hunstanton and made our way into the long stay car park, I was almost delirious with excitement. The worst part was, I had to hide it from my friends. As far as Sophia and Chloe were concerned, we’d just come for a nice, fun, girly day out at the seaside. They had no idea about my ulterior motive. And I didn’t intend to tell them. Until afterwards, maybe. I didn’t want to risk them ruining my master plan, or trying to talk me out of it.

So far, it seemed like everything was on our side. The traffic had been light, we’d got a parking space with no trouble, and the sun was shining. It was a perfect day, and I had every intention of putting a cherry on top of all that perfection. A very sexy cherry.

Sophia parked the car, then hopped out to go and get a parking ticket. Chloe and I got out too, stretching our limbs after being cooped up in the car for a couple of hours.

“So,” I said, tilting my head back to catch the rays of the sun on my face, “what’s the plan then?”

“I dunno,” Chloe replied. “I’ve never been here before, you have. What do you suggest?”

“Well, there’s the beach, obviously. There are amusement arcades, mini-golf, the Sealife Centre, a few shops, the old village…”

I deliberately didn’t mention the funfair. That was my destination, and I wanted to go alone.

Sophia rejoined us and put the ticket in the windscreen of the car. “Got everything, girls?”

Chloe and I nodded, and she checked for valuables before locking the doors. “So, do we know what we’re doing yet? I guess we’ll be led by you, Abigail, since you’ve been here before. Did you say you’d visited with your parents, or something?”

I moved away from the car and started to walk down towards the seafront, though purposely leading the girls in the opposite direction to the funfair. They followed without question.

I nodded. “Yeah. We used to come here all the time for family holidays when I was younger, but now we mostly come on day trips. We last came a month or so ago. I was just telling Chloe what there is to do. There’s the beach, amusement arcades, mini-golf, the Sealife Centre, a few shops, the old village…”

“Ooh,” Sophia said, doing a little jump, “I love mini-golf! Do you fancy a game of that before it gets too hot, then we’ll go from there?”

Chloe nodded her agreement, and I said, “I’ll take you there, ladies, but I can’t play.”

“Why the hell not?” Sophia asked. “It doesn’t matter if you’re crap. I’m crap at it too, it’s just a laugh.”

“No, it’s got nothing to do with being crap, Soph. I have a bad back and swinging a club around and doing all that bending is just going to make it worse.”

It was a blatant lie of course. There wasn’t a thing wrong with my back, and I was actually a little gutted not to be having a go on the best mini-golf course I’d ever played on, but missing out was a necessary evil if I was to go through with my devious plan. If it came off, then the result would be a great deal more fun than a round of mini-golf, anyway.

Filthy Friday: Slave Nano

This is the third blog post in a series I’m hosting to give readers an insight into the stories in erotic anthology, Smut by the Sea.

Say a big hello to Slave Nano!

Random musings on ice cream!

First up, can I thank Lucy for inviting me onto her web site to contribute to her series of ‘Filthy Friday’ blogs offered by authors of the ‘Smut by the Sea’ anthology.

My contribution to ‘Smut by the Sea’ is a story called ‘One Scoop or Two?’ and, yes, you’ve guessed, it features a lot of ice cream…and an equal portion of oral sex too!

‘Danatoni’s’, the ice cream parlour in my story is based on my childhood memories of another ice cream parlour, ‘Morelli’s’ in Broadstairs, a seaside town in the south east of the UK, also famous for its association with a rather more illustrious writer, Charles Dickens.  I love ice cream.  When I read through my story and came to the description of the character Darren, ”stood, goggle-eyed and drooling, gazing at the ice cream looking like a pervert let loose in the red light district of Amsterdam” I suddenly realised, oh my god, that’s me, I do that!  Darren returns with his girlfriend, Keeley, to the ice cream parlour he remembers from his childhood and that’s where the fun really starts.

These days you can get a cornucopia of varieties of ice cream and exotic flavours.  But back when I was growing up in the early 1960s there was no such choice.  There was the ice cream van selling ‘Mr Whippy’ (tee-hee, a name that has amusing connotations for a writer of BDSM erotica!), which came down the road I lived with its ‘Greensleeves’ jingle.  Now, what is it about ‘Greensleeves’ and ice cream vans?  What marketing man dreamed up the idea that, oh let’s play a Tudor ballad, that’ll get the kids flocking in?  The funny thing is it worked, as the sound of the jingle was a call to all the children on the street to rush out and buy a cornet or a strawberry Mivvi.  Aah, Mivvi’s – now there’s the classic ice lolly for you!

But the height of exotic ice cream experience then (this was before the days of those US interlopers Baskin-Robins with their new-fangled blueberry cheesecake ice cream) was a block of Wall’s Neapolitan.  I mean, it had three flavours, all in one block, how good was that?!  I remember that before it settled down into its classic combo of vanilla, strawberry and chocolate an early version had green ice cream, how amazing?  I suppose this was meant to be pistachio though I doubt if it had ever seen a real pistachio nut but it was green, so, hey, that’s ok.. Because of that, and to this very day, my favourite flavour is still pistachio. When I was last in Italy faced with an ice cream parlour in Sam Gimignano (the Tuscan hill-top town with all the towers) with an amazing range of flavours and boasting both that it made the best ice cream in Italy (an awesome claim) and also that Tony Blair frequented it on his many holidays in Tuscany (hmm, not so great a claim) I chose pistachio for that classic Italian gelato experience.

Sorry, I’m digressing.  Now, of course this was why Morelli’s was such an inspiring place for a kid.  Genuine Italian ice cream parlours were a pretty rare occurrence when I was growing up and this one was amazing with a choice of flavours that was mind boggling to a child brought up on Arctic Roll (hands up who remembers that!).  And of course, just like Danatoni’s in my story, Morelli’s made damned fine ice cream! This was clearly one of my formative childhood experiences, which is why I simply had to pay homage to it in my story.  So folks, will it be one scoop or two?

One Scoop or Two?

Keeley’s boyfriend, Darren, had promised to take her on a weekend away.  Anticipating a romantic city break she is disappointed to discover what he has in mind is a trip to a traditional seaside town from his childhood.  But things take a distinctive turn for the better when the couple accidently get themselves locked into an ice cream parlour.  Ice cream sundaes will never be the same again for Keeley!

Story extract

“You’ve been a good boy,” she smiled, “so I think I’m going to treat you to an ice cream.”  She picked a metal scoop up and cast her eyes across the coloured mounds of ice cream, “Hmm, what flavour? I know just the thing, the classic Italian ice cream, pistachio.”

She plunged the scoop into the pastel green mound of ice cream covered with chopped nuts.  She held the scoop over his crotch and looked him in the eye with a wicked gaze and then released the scoop of ice cream onto his cock.  He gasped and wriggled in the chair, gripping tightly onto the arms just as she had done.

“Hmm, I think we’ll have some whipped cream on that,” she said as she squirted oodles of cream from an aerosol can, “and some chocolate sauce,” as she squeezed a stream of syrupy brown sauce onto the ice cream, “oh, and some hundreds and thousands to decorate,” as she took a handful of the multi-coloured sugar strands and sprinkled them over the ice cream and chocolate sauce.

Darren sat there in ecstasy as he looked down on his erect cock smothered in the combination of ice cream, cream, chocolate sauce and sugar strands….
