Accidental Contact

Accidental Contact Excerpt

Groggily, Natalie peeked at the red numerals on the hotel clock. Midnight—they’d only been in bed for an hour.

Her eyes blinked wide open. There was a hand on her breast. She wiggled her fingers. The hand definitely wasn’t hers. She held her breath, taking stock of her situation.

Steady breathing warmed her neck. She was in danger of becoming intoxicated with Bridgette’s scent. She squirmed her bottom only to discover something solid—Bridgette’s torso, curved around hers. Fortunately, they were about the same height.

She couldn’t discern if Bridgette was awake or maybe acting out a dream. Natalie rechecked the clock. It had taken her nearly five minutes to assess her situation, and she still wasn’t sure what was happening. Her breathing faltered. She did know her nipples were growing incredibly aroused.

Shutting her eyelids, she withdrew into her body to concentrate on one particular nipple. The one Bridgette’s thumb lay within an inch of.

I’m happy to announce another new release! This time, I’m appearing in an eBook anthology from Xcite Books, called Desperate Measures. My story is the title story, and it’s about a woman who was made redundant from her job and finds a very interesting way to earn a little more cash.

Here’s a snippet from the story:

Recession. Credit crunch. Inflation. Poppy was fed up of hearing the words. She didn’t need to keep seeing the news reports to know the depressing truth. She – and many other people besides – was broke. Before the financial crisis hit, Poppy had been doing just fine. Really well, actually. She’d had a great job as a project manager with a firm that worked with chain supermarkets. Granted, it meant there were occasional late-night phone calls she’d had to deal with, but the money had been good enough that the interruptions were worth it. The nice house, car, and luxurious holidays had also kept her smiling through the busy periods when she was ready to rip some incompetent contractor’s head off.

Unfortunately, money problems had affected everyone and made them tighten their belts, including the supermarkets. As a result, Poppy was out of a job. Various schemes she’d paid into over the years ensured that she still had a roof over her head, thankfully, but the luxuries she’d previously enjoyed were no longer an option.

Naturally, she’d thrown herself into job hunting as soon as she’d found out she was being made redundant. But people with her skill set and experience were expensive and companies were getting rid of expensive and not-absolutely-necessary people, not taking them on.
The monthly repayments on her mortgage were high and while she was on jobseeker’s allowance they were being paid for her. Poppy was no snob, but she couldn’t afford to take just any job because as soon as she became employed again, the insurance company would stop paying her mortgage. Therefore, if her new job paid a lot less than her previous one, she’d end up even worse off than she was now. Poppy had a serious dilemma. If only she could find a way to earn some extra cash while she was looking for a job, then she wouldn’t have to dip into her hard-earned savings.

One evening, as she surfed job websites looking for possible roles, Poppy sat back in her chair and sighed with resignation. Her search was proving fruitless, and it was really beginning to get her down. But then, as her gaze landed on the gadget hooked on to the top of her computer monitor, her eyes narrowed and inspiration hit. She snapped back to the screen and began frantically Googling. A little while later, Poppy’s genius plan was in action.

A Photo I Took At Scarborough Castle

I was very excited to be asked to co-edit an anthology with my buddy, Victoria Blisse. So naturally I said YES! The anthology is linked in with an event that Victoria and her fab hubby are planning in Scarborough (north east coast of England) in 2013 – more details will be available on the Smut by the Sea website, so bookmark it so you don’t miss out!

Happy New Year, everyone! So… it’s a new year, and there’s lots of talk of resolutions. I only have two:

1. Lose weight. Yes, boring as hell and the same as everybody else, probably. But there it is, let’s not dwell on it.

2. Write a novel. Infinitely more exciting, I am setting this as my resolution this year to stop me talking about it and spur me on to actually do it! So yes, this year (and hopefully even this month) I will be starting to pen my sequel to Bite with Height, following on from my visit to Paris last October for research purposes. Wish me luck and pen speed – I’m going to need it!

Today, I visited one of my favourite places in the world – the Peak District. Yes, me, my other half and my trusty paperback copy of Seducing the Myth headed up high on the Morridge Moors in the Peak District. We were there so I could have my photo taken with my copy of Seducing the Myth, in the very place where my story in the anthology is set. And here’s the result (yes, my hat is crazy and the wind certainly didn’t help).

Also, for those of you in the UK that were treated to new Kindles this Christmas, and also those of you that already had one, just to let you know that most of my Kindle titles in the UK store have had their prices reduced.
