New Release: Taking Over Me by Sara Brookes

Yippee—it’s release time for Taking Over Me, the first book of my Geek Kink series! To help me celebrate, some fantastic friends of mine are gracious enough to give me a hand ((A list of them can be found over on my site here: http://www.sarabrookes.net/2013/03/20/new-release-taking-over-me-a-special-contest) So here’s the blurb and a little snippet (there are four different snippets around the blitz). Be sure to stick around, there’s a giveaway at the end.

Taking Over MeBlurb:

He’s everything she didn’t know she needed…

Allison would rather fix computers than worry about sex. That is, until the newest barista in town changes everything. All it takes is one hot stare with his sinful baby blues to remind her she’s not just one of the guys. She has lusty needs only he can fulfill.

Patrick’s coffee shop is on the verge of an epic failure, until Allison takes charge of his computer system. He may not know anything about motherboards, but he does know how to take control—in and out of bed. Now Patrick is determined to get what he wants—Allison in his cuffs. His sensual mastery awakens an intense passion and under his command, he’ll unlock the geek girl’s darkest desires.

Warning: Collars. Cuffs. Clamps. Coffee.

You may never look at your local barista the same way again.

Excerpt:

Patrick watched, enthralled, as Allison set the bag down on a high table and slid a stack of thin glossy comic books out of the bag. Each issue was handled delicately, as if it was a precious object that needed to be held with care. He didn’t see anything in the hoard of books he recognized, but since he hadn’t seen or touched a comic book since childhood, he didn’t find that especially surprising.

He wanted to ask her about her attraction to each when his gaze fell on her face. The words caught in his throat as he became struck speechless by the sheer joy in her expression. Her chocolate-colored eyes were bright and a touch of pink darkened her cheeks.

She’d looked the very same way last night when he’d brought her screaming over the edge. He watched in fascination as she carefully scanned each book while she held it with her fingertips. This was so much more than a hobby for her. This was a very serious and unshakable passion.

Arousal pooled in his groin as he watched. When the sensation flourished without any encouragement, he realized he couldn’t wait until later. He had to have her now. Where they stood positioned them perfectly so they were hidden if someone glanced into the room. Coming fully into the room was a different matter, but that had never stopped Patrick before.

Sliding closer, he slipped his hand along her back. She squirmed, giggling softly when his fingers dipped below the hem of her skirt. In one quick motion, he lifted her skirt over her hips. Her gasp filled the small space, arrowing straight to his cock. She moved to stand, but he slid closer, dipping two fingers inside her pussy. Her elbow hit against the table, causing her to cry out in pain.

“Al? You okay?”

“I’m fine, Tony. Just being a klutz.” A moan rumbled in her throat as Patrick drove his fingers into her harder, leaning close.

“I’m going to have you.”

“Okay, let me check—”

“It wasn’t a request.” Patrick lowered his voice. “I’m going to fuck you. Right here. Right now.”

Guest Blogger: Violet Fields

I’m delighted to welcome Violet Fields today, who is dishing the dirt on her story, A Grand Day Out, which appears in Smut Alfresco. Take it away, Violet!

It was whilst attending one of the chapter meetings of the Romantic Novelists’ association that I met the lovely Lucy Felthouse and she encouraged me to try my hand at producing some targeted erotic fiction. That was probably back in August or September last year.

So I took several months studying the market, reading lots of erotica and erotic romance with little time for much else; I was very determined to give it my very best shot. The ‘Smut Alfresco’ anthology particularly appealed to me as I am very much an outdoors person so it wasn’t difficult to think of a myriad of possible locations and plots.

I had been a keen hiker in the past but a ruptured achilles tendon three years ago put paid to most of the more strenuous walks. However I live near the Peak District and know and love the area especially Hathersage which is steeped in literary history and symbolism so deeply appealed to me as a setting for my story.

I also must admit to a bit of a weakness for men getting wet. Hence, without giving away any spoilers, the inclusion of one particular scene in the story.  Amongst my favourite images ever is a movie still I once saw of Viggo Mortensen playing ‘Aragorn’ in ‘Lord of the Rings’ sitting fully clothed in a stream! I’m not hundred per cent sure why, I just really liked the image.

The walk that takes place in the story is one I’ve completed myself a few times in the past but without the sex I hasten to add! If you’re ever in that neck of the woods it really is a beautiful part of the country and more than worth a visit.

I really enjoyed writing the story but I’ve had some interesting reactions from people since the anthology came out. A whole new meaning to ‘shock and awe’ in many quarters. Don’t think anyone has needed a defibrillator yet but we’ve come perilously close.

I’m hoping this may settle down as people get used to Violet and her oeuvre. Is this often the case the first time you’re ‘outed’ in this art form? I’d be interested in hearing of other writer’s experiences.

Bio:

Violet Fields lives in Yorkshire with her lovely family and her little shadow, one year old Shih Tzu Betsy.

She loves walking in the local countryside with Betsy; with friends in the nearby Peak District; watching all kinds of cinema; attending weekly pottery and art groups and visiting the local pub with her mates; though not necessarily in that order!

Recently Violet has been published by the House of Erotica in the anthology ‘Smut Alfresco’ with her story ‘A Grand Day Out,’ set amid the dramatic grit stone escarpments of Derbyshire’s Peak District being her first foray into erotic fiction and she hopes very much that you’ll like it.  Her new story: ‘The Runaway Bride’s Surprise’, featuring a chocoholic runaway bride and a dentist, appears in the anthology ‘Smut for Chocoholics.’

Violet first realised she had a real passion for writing aged seven, when she totally confounded an infant teacher who told her to write a story about a grain of sand as a punishment, by really enjoying it!

Always one to push the boundaries a little, by her teens she was writing comedy plays with a few gentle innuendoes in them; one of which was produced as part of a district festival.

However, too soon work and family responsibilities took over and writing ambitions were temporarily forgotten.

When her children were small though, Violet obtained a BA (Hons) in Film Studies with Professional Writing from Sheffield Hallam University and a Postgraduate Certificate in Technical Communication from the same establishment.

Recently she joined the Romantic Novelists’ Association and is currently writing a historical novel for their new writer’s critique scheme under a different pen name;  but have no fear Violet has plenty of ideas for new erotic romance storylines in her too yet !!

Working It Out is a part of the Amber Allure Office PAX. The PAXes are a collection of books that come out on the same day and that all start in the same place — namely the theme. In this case — The Office.

When I sat down to write this one, Affton showed up first, told me all about Luke, the one who got away, or rather, who left without notice.

Before I knew it, the story was written. I do love it when the characters show up strong and take over the story fast and hard.

Hopefully, you’ll like them too!

Working It OutBlurb:

Four years ago, Luke walked out on Affton while he was still sleeping, leaving only a quick “I can’t do this” email behind. Affton has spent those four years focused on his career, a now very successful one at that. When he encounters Luke in the graphics department of the company he now works for, it rocks his world.

Insisting that Luke owes him a coffee at least, Affton’s world is further rocked when he finds out why it was Luke left him in the first place. Can he convince Luke that he isn’t the man Luke believes him to be and that they deserve a second chance? Or will he be fated to watch Luke run away from him yet again?

It’s coming from Amber Allure on March24:

http://www.amberquill.com/AmberAllure/bio_Michael.html

Excerpt:

“We’ll have a whole new graphics package ready for you by noon tomorrow, Geoffrey. I’ll bring it to lunch at Laffite.” Affton laid on the charm, smoothing the waters as well as he could.

Richard Chalmers was one of Fillian Commercial’s biggest clients and he was not going to disappoint the man.

“I’ll see you there. I’m looking forward to it.”

He hung up, grabbed the file, and headed to the graphics department.

Heads were going to roll and then no one was going home until the graphics had been fixed. They looked nothing like what the client had asked for, or for that matter, like what they’d pitched to Geoffrey in the first place.

The graphics department was a floor down and Affton strode down the stairs, building his head of steam as he went. They were a billion dollar advertising agency and this kind of mistake was not on. The graphics department had its own wing, but was otherwise open concept, so he was able to start yelling as soon as he was in the door.

“I want everyone responsible for so much as a dot on the Chalmers account in front of me in the next thirty seconds.”

The artists and computer geeks looked up, the place like a warren with little meerkats popping up and down.

“Twenty seconds. Why is no one running like their lives depend on it? ’Cause I swear to fucking God, your job does.”

“Seriously? Last time I checked I didn’t jump like a dog when someone barked.” A round, brightly colored, fierce woman looked at him through cat-eyed glasses. “Suits.”

“This suit can fire your ass like that.” He snapped his fingers. “The Chalmers account is one of our biggest and the client is anything but happy. I’m not playing here, people.” He opened the file and began reading off the names from the graphics department who were associated with the file. “Louise Belmar. Donald Scarp. Ilia Warken. Luke Addis…”

His voice faded away. Luke Addison? No fucking way. Not his Luke Addison.

Though, Affton supposed that he’d lost any right to call Luke his the day the man had packed up and walked out on him without a single explanation.

Thank you to Lucy for giving me the opportunity to tell you about Working It Out.

Here’s Jenny Lyn, telling us about her story, Shine, from Smut Alfresco. Warning: it contains a hunky sheriff. *fans self*

The venue I finally chose for my sexy outdoors shenanigans in SHINE was not the first location I considered. My first idea was on the deck of a boat, and the second, a rooftop. For the rooftop idea, I’d even gone so far as to research Bosun’s chairs. If you don’t know what that is, they’re used to do work on the side of a building or on a boat’s riggings, neither of which are for me, thank you very much. I played around with both story settings, but never really got a strong feel for the characters. No connection to them at all. Then one night I watched an episode of Moonshiners and inspiration struck.

I absolutely adore being born and raised in the south. From the deep-seated traditions passed down through generations, to the sweltering temperatures and hummingbird-sized mosquitos. I’ve wanted to write an erotic piece that featured the south for some time. Now, making one of my characters a moonshine runner might not sound too flattering, but anyone who’s actually from the south will tell you that’s not a slight. Yes, it’s illegal to run moonshine, but for a lot of southern families it’s also part of their heritage. My grandfather happened to brew “white lightning” for his own personal consumption back in the day.

I also wanted to explore the dichotomy of being drawn to someone on the opposite side of the law from which you stood. Of being faced with a choice on what you would do when cornered, or if you were pressed to make a decision on whether to close your eyes or draw a line in the sand. It’s not always black and white. When emotions get involved, things tend to turn gray.

As far the location for the sexy times, who doesn’t want to cool off on a sweltering summer day? A dip in a natural spring will certainly do the trick. Water so cold it steals your breath, then warm sunshine to dry you off afterward. After spending every summer of my teens at a local spring a bike ride away from my house, I can attest to how refreshing and fun it can be.

A secluded oasis, a hot girl in a bikini, and a hunky sheriff who’s not afraid to use his handcuffs… Have I made you thirsty for more? I hope so.

Cheers,

Jenny Lyn

Guest Blogger: Tilly Hunter

I’m delighted to announce Tilly Hunter, who is dishing the dirt on her story in Smut Alfresco. Take it away, Tilly…

A big thanks to Lucy for inviting me over to her blog and to both Lucy and her partner in crime Victoria Blisse for accepting my story for their Smut Alfresco anthology.

My story, The Explorer Challenge, is all about the British Ordnance Survey map, which may not sound a particularly likely subject for erotica. But I’m a map geek and proud of it. In fact, I’ve just ventured into my loft to count the maps in my collection and I have 62. If I go somewhere new for so much as a weekend, I’ll buy the map. I can stare at them for hours. They’re like magic: if you know how to read a map, you can visualise a whole landscape in your mind just by looking at the lines and symbols on a sheet of paper. The couple in my story love maps too, and they set themselves a challenge that will take them all over Britain for fresh air fun.

The inspiration for it came in a circuitous route, as these things often do. While I was first thinking about my story, I happened to find the book Map Addict: A Tale of Obsession, Fudge and the Ordnance Survey, by Mike Parker, on a friend’s bookshelf. It has a chapter called Carto Erotica, which starts with a quote from Geoff Nicholson’s Bleeding London: “Afterwards as she lay panting on her back, legs still splayed, she said, ‘I want to be fucked everywhere. In every hole. In every position. In every London borough. In every postal district.’” The fact I was staying on a Scottish island at the time probably influenced my choice of setting, since I settled on Orkney.

The Carto Erotica chapter is packed full of smutty facts; “maps bristle with sexual energy”. Standing stones, caves and cairns are all pretty obvious. But who knew that the British Board of Film Classification decided whether a penis was erect, and therefore banned from our sensitive eyes in ye olden days before the internet, by referring to the angle at which the Mull of Kintyre sticks out from the Scottish mainland? Or that Britain is full of streets called Gropecunt Lane?

Tilly Hunter – www.tillyhuntererotica.blogspot.co.uk – is a British author with stories in anthologies from Xcite Books, House of Erotica and MLR Press. Her first solo ebook, Miranda’s Tempest, a trio of stories offering kinky takes on Shakespeare’s The Tempest, Grimms’ Hansel and Gretel and Homer’s The Odyssey, is out now from House of Erotica and available at http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mirandas-Tempest-BDSM-Erotica-ebook/dp/B00AWFT76Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1359747400&sr=8-1

The Tulips of …Turkey?

Many of us have a pre-set image of “tulips,” that typically involve a field of them surrounding a windmill in Holland.

images-6While this is certainly a legit image, I’m here to tell you that if it were not for Turkey, those ubiquitous, cupped flowers of spring would not be in Europe, much less America.

The Turkish word for “tulip” is “Lale” (pronounced “Lah-ley”). Images of tulips abound in classic Turkish art, pottery, and cultural images. When you tour the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul and peek into the “harem” (or “forbidden place”) there are entire walls of them, painstakingly painted onto tiles.

In the 16th Century, tulips were exported to Holland from the central parts of Turkey and became wildly popular. At one point the “tulipmania” was so rampant the Dutch government tried to outlaw the black market trading that had grown up around the prized bulbs, but eventually supply outstripped demand and they became just another pretty flower.

The years 1718-1730 were called the Tulip Era in Turkey, under Sultan Ahmed III and were marked by peace and happiness (for most) but ended as many of them do by a revolt which unseated the Sultan from his throne.

images-5And those really fancy ones you admire in the spring after spending freezing days in November planting the bulbs and praying the squirrels don’t eat them (the ones that seems to have “flames” shooting up their petal)? That sort of coloring was originally from a virus that messed with the solid pigmentation of the flower, passed into them by a louse.  Of course the ones we admire are merely hybridized versions of the solid color ones but those first really pretty ones? Merely sick.

One of the main female characters in The Turkish Delights series name is “Lale.” And while her parents certainly wish the “calm beauty” of the flower upon their only daughter, that was not what she was about. She was a wild kid from the beginning and when she loses one of her twin brothers in a terrorist attack she goes off the deep end, partying, drinking, screwing any man she can find who is willing and generally not living up to her name. It finally takes family intervention, and a move to the States away from Istanbul to settle her—but really it takes a hot, large, Greek Dom named Andreas….but you’ll have to read the books to find out how!

The Turkish Delights series is now available in e-book bundle format and in print under one beautiful cover.  The series is made up of 5 books, ranging in length from 9000 words (a long short story) to 35,000 (a novella) and encompasses decades in the life of the Deniz family.  It has a bit of everything including cougar action, forbidden yet fated love, man love, BDSM, intrigue, suspense, funny and poignant family dynamic and one of the flat-out happiest ever afters I have ever written.

I hope you get a chance to enjoy them soon!

Turkish DelightsA young American woman comes face to face with her destiny in Istanbul in the 1960’s and an epic dynasty is born.

When Vivian Kinkaid turns around in her college classroom and makes eye contact with a man who was once her forbidden childhood friend, her life is changed forever.

A sweeping saga of family, love, loss and recovery—The Turkish Delight series begins with a special sort of magic. Then  Madame Eve works her miracles for the Deniz family, but even she can’t overcome the harsh realities that force this Turkish/American family all to deal with tragedy when one of their own is ripped from their close-knit circle.

“The Turks” opens with best-selling classic romance for the ages.  Then ends with a thrilling novella that brings all the players back together.  Set in Istanbul, Las Vegas, and Southern California, The Turkish Delights series has it all—heat, heart, intrigue and a deep, family connection that transcends all barriers.
