An Interview with Leigh Ellwood (@LeighEllwood)

I’m delighted to welcome Leigh Ellwood to the site, where she’s dishing the dirt on her life and her new and upcoming releases. Welcome, Leigh!

Tell us about yourself. Both your writing self and your non-writing self. What are your interests and hobbies? Do you have a day job, etc?

Thanks for having me today! I am happily married, mother of one. I work full-time in book publishing and sales, and write romance and mystery. I have been published for about ten years now under different pen names, and I enjoy writing a variety of romantic and erotic sub-genres. I practice yoga daily for exercise, and drink a lot of caffeine!

A Taste Of VanillaGive us the background on your latest release.

My latest short is a lesbian erotic story called A TASTE OF VANILLA. It’s an interracial romance, about a woman experimenting with her sexuality and going outside the box, testing her comfort zones, to find the perfect mate. This story appeared in a shorter version in an anthology I edited for Coming Together (COMING TOGETHER: GIRL ON GIRL). I revised and lengthened the story for solo release, and plan to write more in a series.

I also have stories coming out later this year with Ellora’s Cave and Decadent Publishing.

How did you get started with writing? And what was your route to publication like?

I have been writing in some form or another for most of my life, but I published my first story for a Colorado magazine when I was 19. After several rejections, I published my first novel ten years later. I have written articles for magazines, greeting cards, book reviews, blogs…you name it. It seems I was born with a pen in my hand.

What are you currently working on?

I am currently working on follow-up stories for my Ellora’s Cave and Decadent releases. The EC story is a lesbian romance, and the Decadent is M/M.

Do you have a particular Muse for your writing? Do any of your characters bear startling resemblances to sexy celebrities or people you admire?

Not really. Many authors picture a film star, but the faces of my characters don’t take on those physical qualities. I try to keep original images when I create people in my stories. As for muses, I find the world is my muse. I’ll hear a song, see something on the news, then I get an idea.

Where do you see yourself in five years? Both writing-wise and non-writing-wise?

I hope to have more books, more readers, and a bit more money in five years! I guess we all want that as authors, but as long as I can move around without feeling pain I’m good.

And now for some silly questions…

Muscled or skinny? Always liked the skinny boys, don’t know why.

Tall or short? Tall – my husband is tall.

Boxers or briefs? Boxers – they’re colourful.

Moustache or beard? Actually neither – I like them clean shaven.

Long hair or shaven head? Long hair, good for pulling. J

Tattoos or piercings? Again, neither. They don’t do anything for me.

Intelligent or funny? How about intelligently funny?

Blond, brunette or red head? Brunettes – we do have fun, too.

Hottest celebrity (tell us why, if you like)? This varies, but currently it’s Tom Hiddleston. Just saw his Henry V and it was stunning.

Top same-sex crush (or opposite sex if you already like same-sex!) I’ve always liked Kate Winslet, ever since Sense and Sensibility.

Most disliked celebrity (tell us why, if you like) I could live without all the real housewives and reality “stars”. I don’t see the appeal in shows where people shout at each other for thirty minutes.

Favourite food Eggs Benedict for brunch. I only have it once a year or so, it’s so rich.

Favourite book (tell us why, if you like) Too many to list here. I love Dick Francis mysteries, the Harry Potter books, the Valdemar books by Mercedes Lackey.

Favourite place in the world (tell us why, if you like) New York City, just because.

Anything else you’d like to add? Go, Braves!

A TASTE OF VANILLA by Leigh Ellwood

Beautiful Cecile Robbins smells like spice and vanilla, and Hailie can’t resist a taste. Curiosity turns into sensual exploration in this sexy F/F romance.

Excerpt

Hailie watched the onscreen couple embrace and kiss, and swallowed back a catch in her throat. She’d seen her share of love scenes in her favorite soaps and movies, but never two women together, and this looked damn near pornographic by comparison. When Veronique—Hailie assumed she was the blond-haired one—sat back on her heels and slid a hand up the other woman’s thigh, Hailie felt the touch in her heart, then down to her pussy. She knew they were actors, but the emotion appeared genuine, and it certainly moved Hailie.

Veronique edged closer to her lover, pushing out her shadowed pussy to connect with the other woman’s thigh. The camera zeroed in just as their mounds pressed together and began a slow grind. Light moaning and breathing accompanied their rhythmic lovemaking, drawing Hailie deeper into this world of grainy black and white sin.

Something pressed against her knee. Hailie looked down at Cecile’s fingers tracing a circle on Hailie’s slacks.

She turned to Cecile, whispering despite their seclusion. “You planned this, didn’t you?”

“I wouldn’t call it a plan,” Cecile said. “More of a spontaneous action,” she lifted her hand, “but if you’re uncomfortable I’ll stop—”

“I meant the movie.”

Cecile laughed. “I don’t pick the schedule here.”

“You picked the meeting place,” Hailie pointed out, “and how convenient it was to hook up in time to catch this particular show—”

Cecile silenced her with a kiss, with soft lips and a gentle thrust of her tongue across the seam of Hailie’s closed mouth. She felt warm and the aroma of vanilla strengthened with their closeness. Blood pounded in Hailie’s head, muffling the background noise of Sapphic ecstasy. Hailie couldn’t move—unsure of what to do in return. Open her mouth? Reach over and pull Cecile to her?

One Flesh by Annabeth Leong

One FleshBlurb:

Leticia and Rosalie are planning their wedding, wanting very much to make their special day one to remember, but Rosalie has something else weighing on her mind, one more thing she wants to make as special and as memorable as the ceremony itself—their wedding night. Rosalie wants to be with Leticia in a way that neither of them had ever been with anyone else. But finding something that would be a first time for both of them turns out to be harder than expected.

As it turns out, there is one thing Leticia has wanted to do but has never trusted anyone enough to allow herself to overcome the fear of it. And it’s something that Rosalie has never done either.

The women discuss the idea of fisting as a means of connecting and forming an intimate bond with each other, one that they’ve never formed with anyone else. They’ve never loved or trusted anyone else they way the love and trust each other, and they are determined to find a way to make it work.

Excerpt:

“I’ll call tomorrow to tell the church how many flowers we want to order,” Leticia said, sighing and folding her notebook closed. No matter how many neat lists she made with her favorite purple pen, the sheer quantity of wedding-related details was overwhelming. “Can you call the caterer back, Rosalie? I still feel like they sneaked a charge in somewhere, but I can’t get a straight answer out of them about it.”

Her fiancée smiled indulgently. “Better yet. I’ll go in person on my lunch break, and they won’t know what hit them.”

“Great.” Leticia rubbed her temples and closed her eyes. She’d wanted to go to bed early, but another evening of wedding planning had made that completely impossible. She was excited to be marrying her one true love and all, but it was easy to lose track of that when she had fourteen phone calls to make and her mother demanded an e-mailed progress report every single night. “That’s got to be enough for now.”

Leticia stole a quick glance at Rosalie. She’d changed into a cute pair of pajamas when she got home from work, the childish pattern an odd contrast with her sophisticated coppery makeup. Leticia briefly fantasized about peeling the clothing away, revealing her lover’s curves and smooth brown skin. Unfortunately, at that very same moment, she had to stifle a yawn. She was so damn sleepy. They would need to get to bed immediately if she was going to give Rosalie proper attention.

“We can’t quit planning yet,” Rosalie said. “We haven’t discussed the most important thing, and it’s coming up soon.”

Leticia groaned. She flipped her notebook open again and paged through her color-coded, highlighted lists. “We’ve talked about everything I had listed for the day, and we even went over things that have deadlines coming up in the next few days. I don’t see what we’re—”

“The wedding night,” Rosalie purred. “We haven’t discussed that at all.”

There was no mistaking the sparkle in her eyes. Leticia actually blushed, the way she had at Rosalie’s makeup counter the first time they met, when the other woman’s soft words of praise, roughened by the obvious desire in her voice, had gotten Leticia so hot and flushed it had been impossible to identify the correct shade of foundation for her skin tone. She’d been forced to come back later, not that she’d minded.

Now that she’d figured out what Rosalie was hinting at, Leticia played innocent. For all her lover’s passion, her Catholic upbringing had left her with an adorable aversion to using direct language. Leticia loved to watch Rosalie get flustered while trying to explain her naughty desires. She batted her eyelashes and focused on her notes again. “We’ve reserved our hotel room the night of. We’ve got our plane tickets to Puerto Rico for the honeymoon a couple days after that. Everything appears to be in order.”

“The wedding night,” Rosalie said, apparently oblivious to Leticia’s teasing. She rolled her hands through the air, one over the other, the gesture an invitation to take the word “night” and run with it. “The whole reason I wanted an afternoon wedding was so we could have plenty of time together. Afterward. In the hotel.”

“You mean to take a good, long nap? I’m sure we’ll be tired after dealing with all the guests, and coming down from pre-wedding nerves, too.” Leticia couldn’t resist continuing the act.

“Not a nap. But I am talking about what we might do in bed.” Now Rosalie colored, a deep red undertone becoming visible beneath the screen of her makeup.

Leticia composed her face as much as she could manage and shrugged. “Oh, are you talking about sex?” A giggle threatened to slip through at Rosalie’s incredulous, exasperated expression. “I don’t know. I’ve read tons of articles about how people get so exhausted from all the things leading up to a wedding that they don’t even really want to have sex by the time the day is done. We’ll have plenty of time for that later in the honeymoon, won’t we?”

“Don’t even really want to have sex,” Rosalie repeated slowly, as if the phrase was a math problem and she couldn’t quite work it out. Her forehead wrinkled in utter puzzlement. A snort burst from Leticia. Realization dawned on Rosalie’s face. She grabbed a tissue from the box on the table and tossed it at her. They’d both collapsed in giggles by the time the thin paper floated airily to the floor beside Leticia.

Leticia allowed the force of her laughter to pull her off the chair. She crawled the short space to Rosalie’s chair and raised one brown foot to her lips. Leticia did enjoy a little foot worship now and then, but her current mood was far from reverent. Slowly, carefully, she slipped her mouth over Rosalie’s polished big toe. She licked until Rosalie’s breathing changed, confused between laughter and moaning. Then Leticia lifted off the toe and pressed her mouth to the sole of Rosalie’s foot. She inhaled, gripped the ankle tightly, and blew a powerful raspberry.

Rosalie squealed and tried to get away. Leticia smiled but kept up the wet, ticklish vibrations. Rosalie’s foot jerked in her hands. Leticia kept hold easily. She had plenty of practice restraining patients, which happened to have fun applications at home.

Rosalie writhed as she laughed. Leticia drew breath for another raspberry, but cut her eyes up as much as she dared. She didn’t want to miss the sight of her lover, breasts bouncing under her shirt as her rib cage shook, hips rolling as she struggled to get away, face squeezed tight as if to ward off the unbearable sensation of being tickled. Effectively, this previewed Rosalie’s orgasm. Warm arousal spread through Leticia’s body as she forced Rosalie to stay in this state, and as she looked forward to seeing the real thing very soon.

Rosalie rained playful blows onto Leticia’s head. “Why the hell am I marrying you?” It took forever for her to get the sentence out, as she had to gasp each word between shrieking laughs.

Leticia grinned and tugged at her lower legs. Her lover took the hint and rolled out of the chair to join her on the floor. Leticia wrapped her arms around Rosalie, who felt small and hot and curvy. She slipped one hand down to tickle between her ribs, rewarded by another delicious howl. Rosalie shoved at her chest. “You are evil, I swear.”

“I’m sorry,” Leticia said softly, managing to sound sincerely regretful. She kissed Rosalie’s temples with great tenderness, until her lover relaxed and stopped wriggling. Leticia murmured more soothing words, rubbing Rosalie’s back… then licked the side of her face.

Sunday Snog – Another Dance

Sunday Snog

Love's RepriseWelcome back to Sunday Snog. This week, I’m sharing another sexy Sapphic snog from my story, Another Dance, which appears in the just-released lesbian erotic romance anthology, Love’s RepriseIt also features stories from Cassandre Dayne, Olivia Starke, Kate Richards and Anastasia Vitsky.

Janine’s grip on the back of Eden’s neck tightened, bringing their faces ever closer, their lips mashing together. Their teeth clashed, but they barely noticed. They continued kissing like there was no tomorrow, like they’d never see each other again.

Eden had never felt so turned on in her life. She’d been with a couple of guys, but they hadn’t aroused her so much with foreplay and full sex as Janine did with just a kiss. And it wasn’t as if Janine was massively experienced, either. Their experience was about on par, and yet, here they were, doing this.

They carried on for a minute or two, their tongues tangling together as the rest of the world paled into insignificance. Eden knew, suddenly, that even a lifetime of this would not be enough. She wanted her friend more than she’d ever wanted anyone.

My Sexy Saturday #2 – #MySexySaturday

My Sexy Saturday

Welcome back to My Sexy Saturday. This is where writers post either 7 words, 7 sentences or 7 paragraphs from their published work or work in progress, sticking to the week’s theme. The theme is seduction. So I’m going to start with a snippet from Finally Found, my lesbian erotic romance story, which appears in Lover Unexpected: Sappho Edition. Enjoy!

“Nothing.” Ashleigh spoke too quickly, and now Natalia was even more desperate to know what she meant. Could she mean…?

Grabbing the wine bottle, Natalia splashed the last remaining dregs of liquid into her glass and downed it in one. She’d had enough of this. Enough of this pussy-footing around. If Ashleigh was going to say things like that, then Natalia had every right to know what she meant. Even if it didn’t include her, she’d rather know one way or the other. This limbo was torture.

She put the empty glass down once more, then moved over to Ashleigh’s bed and sat down next to her.

“Ash. Are you flirting with me, or what? I can’t fucking tell and it’s driving me crazy.”

Ashleigh looked momentarily taken aback by Natalia’s outburst. Then she gave a small smile, and said, “Do you want me to be flirting with you?”

“More than anything.” A combination of the alcohol she’d consumed, and just wanting to know either way whether she was in with a chance, she continued to speak, baring her soul to her best friend. “Ash, I’ve been in love with you for years. Since University. Couldn’t you tell?”

Now Ashleigh looked more than taken aback. Her face took on an expression of total and utter shock. For a couple of seconds, she said nothing. She opened her mouth as though she was going to say something, then closed it again. Swallowed, and tried again. “Nat, are you serious?”

Just as she had that thought, the boys started talking to one another, and made to move away. She couldn’t allow that—Janine had wanted to get their attention and Eden was going to make damn sure they kept it.

Shifting her hand back up, she placed it behind Janine’s neck and pulled her friend toward her. She saw, just for a split second, the look of utter surprise on her face before Eden closed her eyes and pressed her lips against Janine’s.

Deep down, she knew she was kissing her friend for another reason, but on the surface she maintained that it was essential to keep playing their little game with the lads in the dark t-shirts.

Janine hadn’t pulled away or screamed blue murder, so Eden pressed her lips harder onto her friend’s for a few seconds longer before opening them and attempting to push her tongue into Janine’s mouth. Janine allowed it, parting for her, then paused for a second before returning the kiss with enthusiasm.
