New Release: Smut by the Sea Volume 2

Hurrah! I’m delighted to announce that Smut by the Sea Volume 2, edited by myself and Victoria Blisse, is now available. Here’s the skinny:

Light hearted, sexy fun by the sea is the theme of this erotic anthology, edited by Victoria Blisse and Lucy Felthouse.

From the sun soaked beaches of Brazil to the altogether cooler coastal towns of England, Smut by the Sea Volume 2 has it all. Whatever your interpretation of naughty seaside fun, there’s something nestling between the covers for you. Amusement arcades, beach houses, mermaids, honeymooners, shipwrecks, sex toys and more abound in this exciting collection of stories from erotica’s finest authors.

Contains stories from Victoria Blisse, Tilly Hunter, Rachel Randall, Giselle Renarde, Tamsin Flowers, Lucy Felthouse, Kate Britton, Jillian Boyd, Bel Anderson, Cass Peterson, Delyth Angharad, T C Mill, Erzabet Bishop, Tenille Brown and Annabeth Leong.

And here’s an excerpt from my story, On the Big Wheel:

Brigit loved the seaside. She always had, probably because visiting it was a rarity. Living in the centre of England meant that even the nearest seaside town was over an hour and a half away—and the nice resorts even further.

Which was why her boyfriend, Allen, proposed a long weekend in Brighton. He knew how fond she was of the seaside. Unsurprisingly, she agreed delightedly.

“It’s a long way,” she said. “But it doesn’t matter. We’d never go anywhere if we lamented the length of the journey.”

As it happened, the travelling wasn’t too bad. Miraculously the M1 was clear all the way down to the M25—and even that notorious motorway wasn’t experiencing its usual havoc. A straight shot south on the M23, then the A23 took them towards Brighton, and they navigated the one-way systems and lack of road signs and—eventually—found their hotel.

“Wow,” Brigit said, stretching luxuriously after getting out of the car, “that didn’t take as long as I thought. Shall we check in, dump our bags and go and explore?”

“Sounds like a plan to me,” Allen replied with a grin.

They slammed their respective car doors, grabbed the bags from the boot and headed into the hotel. Fifteen minutes later, after using the toilet and freshening up, they were back outside.

“Nice choice of hotel, babe. I like it.” Brigit said.

“I’m glad. I researched it well,” Allen replied.

“The bed looks nice and comfy.”

“Well, I’m sure we’ll be able to give it a decent road test later.” He winked at her, and got a slap on the arm for his trouble.

“You’ve got a one-track mind, you have.”

“Well, what do you expect when I’ve got a girlfriend that looks like you?”

She giggled. “Charmer.”

“That’s me. Okay, now I’m back in good books,” Allen said, “what do you want to do? Now, I mean. Not at bedtime.” He waggled his eyebrows.

Brigit stuck her tongue out at him before replying. “I dunno. Just look around I guess. Get our bearings. See what there is to do around here.”

They walked hand-in-hand towards the seafront, then along it in the direction of the pier. They passed the burnt out shell of the West Pier, and Brigit wondered aloud whether it would ever be rebuilt or demolished. Or would the blackened skeleton be left there forevermore, a reminder of what once was.

Soon, they drew close to Brighton Pier. Brigit turned to Allen with a grin.

“What?” he said, then followed her almost manic gaze down the length of the pier, towards a building with fake turret-type things and some very real flags. He sighed. He couldn’t be sure from here, but he thought it was bound to be the amusement arcade. “Oh, you want to go in there, do you? I wonder why?” His voice was laden with sarcasm in his last sentence.

“You know damn well why. Come on!” Brigit tugged him along the last few metres of the pavement and onto the wooden slats of the pier. “Ooh, we can have fish and chips when we come out, if you want.”

Hump Day Hook No. 10 #HDH

humpdayhookHi everyone and welcome to Hump Day Hook, which is basically where authors post a paragraph from a WIP or a published work to show it off to the world. This week, I’m sharing a snippet which follows on from last week’s, which is from my BDSM mini-anthology, The Perfect Dom.

Now, however, she was being treated to a huge and incredibly embarrassing reminder. Katy was on a nightshift at the hospital so when Mia had woken up at 9p.m.—her own body clock being on that of working in the club, though tonight was her night off—she’d deemed it safe to wander to the kitchen to get a drink in what she was wearing.

Want more? Of course you do! Here’s the page  for The Perfect Dom. And click here to go and visit the rest of the Hump Day Hook gang. Leave us comments about our pieces – we love it! 🙂

I’m delighted to announce Jacqueline Brocker, who’s here to tell us more about her fab story in Smut Alfresco, which is based in the beautiful city of Cambridge.

Days of Idyll: Writing ‘Meadow’ for Smut Alfresco

‘Write what you know’ is an oft-quoted phrase given to writers. I’ve not always found this particularly helpful, especially when writing, for instance, m/m fiction, or about detectives, or something set in space. There is, though, some wisdom in the statement, and I find it especially relevant when it comes to writing about place.

grantchester_meadowSo while my short story ‘Meadow’ in Smut Alfresco isn’t exactly autobiographical, I am very familiar with the place it is set on: Grantchester Meadows in Cambridge.

Grantchester Meadows are located immediately south on the river Cam, just before you reach the village of Grantchester. They have been owned by King’s College, Cambridge since 1452, but are easily accessible to all, and are as much part of Cambridge as the University itself. (In fact, I didn’t know until doing a Google search for images of the meadows, that Pink Floyd, who formed in Cambridge, wrote a song about them.)

It seemed the perfect location for a sexy interlude (ok, yes, I have taken walk along the meadows with an ex-boyfriend, so I can’t pretend the story has no bearing on my reality 😉 ). Not just for the idyllic, soothing setting – with the quiet river running past, punts and canoes making their gentle progress towards the village of Grantchester for a pint, lunch, or for afternoon tea at the Orchard (an apple orchard where writers such as Virginia Woolf and Rupert Brooke used to spend time), trees drooping into the water, and cows grazing (walkers do have to be mindful of cow pats along the paths!) – but also because, at the height of summer, it is full of people. Families, couples, friends, and visitors come with picnics, or to swim in the river itself, or just to stroll or take a bike along the bank. With that many people around, it increases the chance of being caught, or spotted, or attracting an unwanted (or indeed, wanted!) onlooker.

How could I not write that story?

The delightful thing about writing ‘Meadow’ was being able to draw on my own experience and knowledge of Cambridge. The types of people who might be on the river – students, people who are born and bred in the city – the kind of activities that happen along the river, even the likely occurrences. One brief scene is dedicated to a swan harassing someone in a canoe. Up until recently, the Cam was stalked by a misbehaving swan nick-named ‘Mr Asbo’ (that’s ‘Anti-Social Behaviour Order’ to those outside of the UK).

More than that, I wanted to convey the gentleness of the place, the warm, hazy idyll that it is to sit on the meadows, and the slow burning sexiness of being there with someone you fancy the hell out of. I hope I’ve succeeded in conveying that.

“Spank me. Is that an invitation?”

Shit. Mia had completely forgotten about him. Her flatmate, Katy, had asked if it was okay if her brother could stay on their sofa for a couple of nights. His own place was being fitted with a new bathroom and conditions over there weren’t exactly tantamount to hygiene. Mia had been rushing around in order to get to work and hadn’t really been paying attention, so she’d just agreed and then promptly forgotten.

Guest Blogger: Nicole Gestalt

I’m delighted to introduce Nicole Gestalt, who contributed an excellent Africa-themed story to Smut Alfresco, and she’s dishing the dirt here:

When it came to submitting to Smut Alfresco, I already had the perfect story written, it just needed a few tweaks here and there and all was good. I love animals, so much that recently I retrained to work with animals, although that has been put on hold whilst I focus on my writing. As part of my retraining I worked in a zoo and animals were very much at the forefront of my mind, I started working on a story that became When The Rains Come.

Of course the difference between the zoo I worked in and the animal reserve in the story apart from the types of animals (I worked with birds, in the story they work with various big cats) is that it isn’t raining! For a week we had rain every day which isn’t an issue, until you find yourself washing out areas in the middle of a thunder and lightning storm so despite the mantra ‘write what you know’ I decided to write about a centre where it wasn’t raining every five seconds and picked the savannah of Africa as my destination.

Once I had the place and the animals, then the people popped into my head and before long I had a fully formed story and one I am very happy to have in Smut Alfresco.

In this little excerpt Kim and Matt are discussing the dire situation they currently find themselves in.

“All done for the moment. The cheetah was a bit reluctant to take her medicine but a little coaxing and some fresh meat persuaded her to do so in the end.” Matt’s voice cut through the silence of the room. Sitting up with a start Kim blinked, phone still in her hand. Matt’s laughter reached her.

“You fell asleep didn’t you?”

Her thoughts were muggy as she tried to think. Dream and reality mixed as she straightened her hat. Her whole body felt like a bolt of electricity had been shot through it. Her trembling increased as more of the dream she had been having become clear.

“I closed my eyes for a moment. Still no reply from Davies. I haven’t been asleep for long I don’t think.” She kept her back to him as images of her dream hit her one after another.

“Dream anything interesting?”

Inwardly she groaned; he knew her too well.

“Oh, just of water, swimming pools, vast lakes and cool, crystal clear seas.”

And both of us naked writhing with one another. She stopped herself before she spoke those words. She didn’t want to tell him the full nature of it. Not that she was ashamed, but she didn’t want to upset the working relationship they had.

Nicole Gestalt has been writing erotica for many years. When Nicole is not writing she loves spending her time with her partner, walking and drinking lots of mocha’s, particularly if they have whipped cream on top. Nicole loves hearing from her readers and can be found at http://www.nicolegestalt.blogspot.com

The Latest News!

So, things have been rather crazy around here just lately, in terms of me being incredibly busy, and also this blog being incredibly busy with all the awesome posts and guest bloggers I’ve had on. So, I’m taking advantage of this free day on the site to blog about what I’ve been up to!

I’ve been doing lots (and lots!) of work in the day job, creating new websites, doing PR for my clients, and so on. Writer Marketing Services has never been busier, which is fabulous. As a result, I’ve been really pushed for time writing-wise, which has made me all the more determined to write harder, and faster, not to mention better. I’m not panicking just yet, though, because I’ve had a few new releases come out since I last did an update blog, and I have more coming.

So, here’s the lowdown on my latest and upcoming books:

Smut for Chocoholics

This little baby hit the digital shelves in the past couple of weeks, and contains my story, Not Just Desserts.

Sensual, sinful chocolately indulgence  is the theme of this erotic anthology, edited by Kevin Mitnik, with assistance from Victoria Blisse.

Smut for Chocoholics is all about indulgence, taking wicked delight in the erotic consumption and use of chocolate, with tales from some of erotica’s finest authors.. Whatever your relationship with the seductive cocoa, there’s something nestling between the covers for you.

Contains tales from Victoria Blisse, Giselle Renarde, Lexie Bay, Annabeth Leong, Lily Harlem, Violet Fields, Nicole Gestalt, Tamsin Flowers, Tenille Brown, Vanessa de Sade, Wendi Zwaduk and Lucy Felthouse.

The Master

This story is my first from several that have been commissioned from Nexus – another four will hit the digital shelves over coming months. It is called The Unexpected Submissive, and the anthology will be available from April 1st – though you can pre-order now.

The Master is a collection of short stories selected and edited by Peter Birch, all on the theme on the dominant male. This is erotica, proud and uninhibited, with eight stories from seven different authors chosen for their knowledge and experience as well as for their ability to write. From the subtle touch of Lucy Felthouse to Penny Birch’s unabashed delight in submission, all are designed to thrill, exploring both fantasy and reality to the very edge of what is permissible.

You can check out an excerpt and the buy links here: https://lucyfelthouse.co.uk/published-works/the-master/

Smut by the Sea Volume 2

Fellow Northern Bird Victoria Blisse and myself are currently finishing up the edits for this anthology, and hope to have it off to the publisher very, very soon, likely to be released in early April. As well as editing this book, it contains my story, On the Big Wheel.

You can check out an excerpt here, and the buy links will be added as soon as they’re available: https://lucyfelthouse.co.uk/published-works/smut-by-the-sea-volume-2/

The Mammoth Book of Quick and Dirty Erotica

My story, On the Night Bus, appears in this awesome anthology, edited by Maxim Jakubowski. This is my first Mammoth print release, and I was very happy to be included.

Over 130 pieces of very short erotic fiction in categories from first times to bondage.

Over 130 short, short erotic stories of about 1,500 words each, or over 500 pages of outstanding erotica in bite-sized pieces, exploring the full range of human sensual and sexual experience.

Each one of eight sections is devoted to a specific erotic kink, such as spanking, submission, voyeurism, uniforms or bondage, providing an astonishing diversity of erotica between the covers of one book.

Despite its length, this short-form erotica from the world’s leading writers remains inventive, provocative, sensual, and above all intelligent. These are sexual adventures to intrigue, shock, puzzle, and both scare and arouse. Mere titillation is never enough.

You can check out an excerpt here, and pre-order the paperback. Other links will be added as soon as they become available: https://lucyfelthouse.co.uk/published-works/the-mammoth-book-of-quick-dirty-erotica/

So, as well as these exciting developments, I have signed a contract for a co-author novel with a fellow writer, and I’ll dish the dirt as soon as I’m able. Naturally, I’m very excited about it, as I think it’s going to be the start of a whole series of books, which is excellent. I’m still waiting for news on my novel, which is currently with a publisher. However, just last week I had a short story acceptance, subject to publisher approval, so I’m not naming names until I’ve signed a contract, and also had a novella accepted by another publisher. I haven’t received the contract for that yet, either, so I’ll say as soon as I can. There’s plenty coming up, it has to be said, so I’m ecstatic about that.

I’m also very happy about my nomination for The Romance Reviews Best Book of 2012. I posted about this the other day, but in case you didn’t see it, Off the Shelf was nominated in the Best Erotic Romance – Contemporary Romance category. If you’re so inclined, I would absolutely love your votes, as my competition is incredibly stiff, and I’d love to see my first novella – a book I adored writing – win an award! Voting is here.
