Excerpt (from The Other Other Woman):

Michael swallowed hard. Sipping his G&T, he looked off in the direction Garret had gone.  They both did.  There was no sign of him.

“Garret gets nervous, at times.  It isn’t insensitivity, it’s only that he doesn’t know quite what to say.”  Michael took another sip, then set down his glass and turned it counter-clockwise.  “Garret and I worked very, very closely at one time.  I don’t know if he mentioned I’m his assistant at the office.”

“He didn’t mention anything,” Edith replied, trying not to snap at him.  It was Garret she was upset with, leaving her alone with a stranger.

“Don’t be too hard on Garret.  He’s one of the gentlest, loveliest men I’ve ever known.”

As Edith pondered the guy’s blond curls and boyish good looks, an image took her from behind: an image of his cherubic pink lips against Garret’s, of his manicured hands unbuttoning Garret’s pressed white shirt.

Edith gasped.  “You’re the other other woman!”

“Something like that,” he replied, with a forlorn grin.  “You’re disappointed.”

“That bastard!”  Edith smacked her hand against the table with such force a bolt of pain shot through her fingers.  “I can’t believe he lied to me.”

“He lied?”

“Well, I assumed he’d had an affair with another woman, and he didn’t correct me.”  She massaged the pang from her knuckles.  “Don’t you think he should have told me I was wrong?  Now I feel like a complete idiot.”

“You mustn’t feel that way.” Michael touched his fingertips to hers.  “You’re quite right—he should have advised you what to expect.  Don’t be too hard on him, though.  He’s only trying to give you what you asked for.”

“This is nowhere near what I asked for,” Edith snapped.  When Michael’s expression dropped, she immediately regretted her harsh tone.  “I’m sorry.  It’s not you.”  His eyes welled with tears, so she broke down a bit. “Tell me something about you and Garret.  What was it like between you two?”

Oh No She Didn’t!

Oh no I didn’t?  Oh yes I did!  I wrote Adam and Sheree’s Family Vacation: a book so vile, so filthy, so taboo that it was banned by Amazon and many other retailers.

You’d think I’d have learned my lesson.  Amazon is the world’s biggest seller of ebooks, right?  If they won’t carry it, isn’t that like throwing months of hard work down the drain?  Wouldn’t you think a clever, business-conscious writer would pack it in and write something a little tamer?

Well, I guess I’m an idiot because… I wrote another one.

Adam and Sheree's Family BusinessThe sequel to Adam and Sheree’s Family Vacation is called Adam and Sheree’s Family Business, and it’s every bit as sordid as the first.  No, it’s more sordid.  Not only does the sequel feature shockingly explicit sex between a brother and sister, it includes all the dirty details of how Sheree drags her brother Adam (and all three of his college housemates!) into her fledgling porn business.

So why on earth would I write a book that’s 100% guaranteed to get banned by Amazon?  Their rules are clear: they don’t allow erotic content that includes sex between blood relatives.  Same goes for ebook retailers like All Romance and BookStrand.  Even if I am lucky enough to work with a publisher that welcomes taboo content, am I stupid or what?  I’ve now written two novellas readers’ go-to online bookshop refuses to carry.

Yeah, I’d say I’m pretty stupid.

But there’s something about censorship that gets my goat.  Maybe I didn’t rebel enough as a teenager, I don’t know, but when I hear there’s something the Amazonian Amazon WILL NOT ALLOW… well, I can’t help but wonder why. Why can’t I write an erotic story about a sexual relationship between two consenting adults?

Well, there’s an easy answer: because they’re siblings. And that’s just not permissible.

Remember when Flowers in the Attic came out and everyone in your class at school read it before the parental units found out why the kids always had their faces shoved in a book?  Is Amazon now the scolding parent we writers are looking out for over our shoulders while we work?

And, speaking of Flowers in the Attic, why is Amazon totally cool about carrying a popular incest book by a bestselling author, but they won’t carry books by low-grossing writers like me (and maybe you, if you’re an author too)?  Who gets to dictate what constitutes literary merit? Why does explicit fiction get so brutally castigated? Can’t a book be smutty and thought-provoking?

These are the questions I ask myself while cutting coupons and praying my rent cheque doesn’t bounce.

Sibling incest is an uncomfortable topic, but that’s why so many readers find it titillating.  The more Big Daddy Amazon says YOU CAN’T READ THAT, the more we want to.  Same goes for writers.  Tell us we can’t explore a topic, and going to write the holy hell out of it.

Adam and Sheree’s Family Vacation, as well as its brand new sequel Adam and Sheree’s Family Business, may not be available from Amazon, but you CAN purchase them at eXcessica’s EDEN website and Barnes & Noble.

5 Author Erotic Romance Anthology

In His Name by Nicola Cameron

Garden of Eden by Lucy Felthouse

This Stage of Life by Giselle Renarde

Campaigning for the Billionaire by Noelle Keaton

Date with a Stranger by Pelaam

And here’s a snippet from my story:

As Dale approached the club, with its two burly and slightly threatening-looking doormen, he almost turned and walked away. It was just too much, too extreme. Somehow, though, he forced himself to put one foot in front of the other and continue right to the door, then, with a nervous smile at the bouncers, headed inside. He paid his cover charge and declined the offer to put his jacket in the cloakroom. There was every chance he was going to chicken out at some point this evening, so he didn’t want to run off, only to realize he’d left his coat behind. Especially since said coat contained his car and house keys, his phone, his wallet…

Plus it helped him hide a little. It covered him from neck—chin if he pulled up the collar—to ankle, secreting his black jeans, black t-shirt and the skinny body beneath them. All anyone could really see was his shock of black hair, his piercing green eyes ringed with eyeliner, fine bone structure and, right down there, his black platform shoes. Dale was a Goth, and proud of it. He got it, understood it, therefore he could deal with it.

What confused him, though, what he didn’t get, were the urges, the dark thoughts that had led him on his journey to Garden of Eden, his local BDSM club. He’d almost died of embarrassment when he’d searched online to find it and hoped to God no one would ever check his browser history.

It was a double whammy, really, the fact that he, a twenty-one year old virgin, wanted not only to be dominated, but to be dominated—and fucked—by a man. He’d taken some time to come to his conclusions, hence the fact he was twenty-one and still had his cherry. He’d never been one for hasty decisions.

And now he was here, at Garden of Eden, to do something about his desires. Of course, he could have gone on the Internet, filled in a profile, listed his wants, his preferences, his experience—well, lack of it—but he hadn’t wanted to do that. So many people online were not truthful. They hid behind their screens, their keyboards, pretending to be something they weren’t. Dale wanted something real, something honest, and he believed the way to get that was to meet people, people with his desires, face-to-face. That way he could assess their body language, their words. Lying is so much more difficult in the flesh.

He wanted transparency, something real and true. And he really hoped he would get it in this place. Even if he didn’t, though, he was confident he’d get an education.

He headed through the busy club, squeezing past people dancing, talking, or in much more intimate positions. No one here was too full on—there was lots of kissing, some groping, and a man being led around on a lead, but it was all pretty mild. The research he’d done online had told him that the more hardcore action took place in rooms off to the sides of clubs. All clubs were different, naturally, but many had rooms with varying equipment in each, catering to the specific needs of the patrons. He figured it would take some time to figure out his own specific needs, but perhaps if he managed to find a Master, he would help Dale to work all that out. He hoped so, anyway.

Eventually he reached the bar, where a shaven-headed guy in obscenely tight trousers and a tucked-in, unbuttoned shirt that flashed his entire chest, was shaking up a cocktail. He gave a short nod to Dale to acknowledge he’d seen him, then moved back over to the customer he’d been taking care of and served them their drink. He popped a straw into the glass, then took the customer’s money with a broad grin. As soon as he’d given the cocktail purchaser their change, the barman headed straight over to Dale.

“Hey, sweet cheeks, welcome to Garden of Eden. What can I get you, first timer?”
