Reading at Sh! Hoxton, 18th November

Look out London – ย the Northern Birds are coming!

On Friday 18th November at 7pm, my buddy Victoria Blisse and special guest yours truly are appearing at Sh! Hoxton for an exclusive erotic reading.

Victoria BlisseVictoria Blisse will be reading from her newly-launched book, Tempting Rendezvous. In true Blisse style, it’s a naughty tale about a sexy curvaceous chick, with BDSM elements. The print book will be on hand so you can grab yourself a copy and have Victoria sign it for you.

Victoria is also attending Erotica at Olympia on Saturday 19th, where she’ll be available for more signings and doing further readings – so if you’re going, keep your eye out for her!

Lucy FelthouseI will be reading snippets from a selection of my latest releases (titles to be decided), and will also be on hand to sign books and postcards.

I’m also be reading at Erotica on Saturday 19th, as well as appearing on a panel, so be sure to stop by, if you’re attending the show!

Victoria and I are also planning some nice surprises, fun and games with a distinct Northern theme for attendees of the Sh! Hoxton reading, so don’t miss out! Contact the Girlz at Sh! to reserve your place now! Be there or be square!

Revisiting the Scene of the Crime – Paris

As most of you probably already know, I’ve just been to Paris on a research trip for the follow-up to my lesbian erotic romance short, Bite with Height. Naturally, as Paris is just so inspiring and beautiful, I have tons of ideas for my upcoming story, which is very likely to be novel length, eek!

Also, though, I took the opportunity to revisit the “scenes of the crime” from Bite with Height, i.e. places that appeared/were relevant in the story. So for those of you that have read it, I hope you’ll enjoy seeing some of the places that you’ve read about in the flesh. If you haven’t, then perhaps these will whet your appetite and send you scurrying to your preferred eBook retailer ๐Ÿ˜‰

Me posing with a Bite with Height postcard in front of the Sacre-Coeur basilica. This is where a great deal of the action takes place, mainly up inside that dome that you see right at the top. You know, the one you have to climb 300+ steps to reach. *phew*

A closer shot – not particularly flattering as it was a bit warm! The postcard is cute though, huh?

The view as you emerge from the first lot of steps. Though as it was a spiral staircase, my view was actually spinning a little, and I was gasping and pouring with sweat. Sexy, huh? No wonder Meg grabbed Grace and got her onto the roof the ‘easy’ way!

Finally up on the roof – the hat has been removed as it was uber-windy up there. Which is the only possible explanation for my insane hairstyle. I’m sitting on one of the stone benches inside the dome of the Sacre-Coeur – could this be where Meg and Grace got it on? Who knows…?

Plenty of room for two girls to get naughty there! They’re only slight, after all ๐Ÿ˜‰

A rusty and somewhat mysterious-looking door. Could this be the entrance to Meg’s lair? That’s for me to know…

Sitting outside the Starbucks opposite the Moulin Rouge with a postcard. This is where Meg and Grace first met. It’s not as busy as when they first met, mainly because it had been raining and no-one wanted to sit on the wet seats. I, however, in my infinite genius got some tissues out of my bag and wiped them down. Ta-da! Posing picture!

I’ll probably do another post later in the week with some photos relating to the research for the follow-up to Bite with Height. In the meantime, if you haven’t read it – check it out here.

Home Sweet Home

After a lovely, lovely time away which went far too quickly – I’m home sweet home! I’m shattered and currently wading through my emails. I’ve had some goodies, too, including a story acceptance, a fab review (see below) and information on my appearances at Erotica, which I’ll share when they’re confirmed.

Once I have all my photos downloaded I’ll be posting a couple of blog posts about my holiday/research trip. I had an awesome time, particularly when I revisited the settings of some of the scenes from Bite with Height. I am also jam packed with ideas for the follow up. So watch this space!

Naughty DeliveryAnyway, here’s a lovely review I had for my BDSM short, Naughty Delivery:

“Naughty Delivery is a quick but tantalizing read about a couple who try something new. The story is cute, sexy, and a very fun read. I enjoyed reading this novella, and I will be happy to read more by Lucy Felthouse in the future.” 4 out of 5, Book Savvy Babe

You can see the review in its entirety here.

Bag yourself a copy of Naughty Delivery here.

Gone Fishin’

Gone Fishing
Bite with HeightOK, so I obviously haven’t gone fishing. That’s not my cup of tea. I have, however, gone on my holiday/research trip to France, where I’ll be spending three days in Paris sightseeing and also researching the sequel for my paranormal erotic romance, Bite with Height. I’ll be hanging out in graveyards, bookshops, churches, erotic museums and much more. I’ll let you decide what’s for fun, and what’s research. You may well be surprised! All being well, I’ll also be meeting the lovely Emma Hillman for lunch – erotic writers lunching in Paris, how very cosmopolitan! ๐Ÿ˜‰

There will be some posts appearing on the site (scheduling technology permitting) while I’m away, and I’ll probably send the odd Tweet via text, or if I can find free WiFi (that actually works!). Otherwise, though, I’m out of contact *shock, horror* until the 10th when life returns to normal (until K D Grace and Maxim Jakubowski’s book launch at Sh! Hoxton on the 14th October, of course!) and I’ll start wading through my emails then.

In the meantime, don’t do anything I wouldn’t do! ๐Ÿ˜€

A Pride Reading at Sh! Hoxton

As most of you know, Kay Jaybee and I descended on Sh! Hoxton on Saturday evening to regale the audience with readings from a selection of our gay and lesbian titles. And what a fabulous evening it was! The lovely Jo did her introductory bits and Kay took to the pink seat and told us a naughty tale from Xcite’s Boy Fun anthology which went down a storm. The Basic Rules of Anal Sex was delivered only after we’d been given a copy of said rules to accompany the deliciously dirty story.

Next up was yours truly with my tale from Ravenous Romance anthologyย I Kissed A Girl. Show Me Yours isย a sexy story about two girls and their various sex toys and we had a good giggle as just as I was talking about a buzzing Rampant Rabbit, some crazy vibrating noises came from the upstairs of the store – talk about sound effects!

Then it was over to Kay again who read another yummy m/m story to us from her lush book, The Collector (which you should totally read, it’s HAWT).

My stage time was concluded with a snippet from my f/f erotic romance, Bite withย

Height. I was worried that the audience had gone deadly silent. I thought perhaps I’d sent them to sleep, but I have it on very good authority that they were merely hanging onto my every word, as the section I’d chosen to read was particularly tense. The tale is too long to read in its entirety, but I hope I whetted enough appetites that people will dash and buy the eBook to find out what else happens!

Ms. Jaybee concluded proceedings with a bonus story from The Collector at the request of one Jacqueline Applebee, who was in attendance. Jo then wrapped everything up and presented Kay and I with a little present from the Sh! Girlz (thanks, ladiez!).

Jacqueline Applebee, Lucy Felthouse, Kay Jaybee, K D GraceSadly, Kay wasn’t able to join us for dinner, but myself, my OH, K D Grace and her lovely hubby and Jacqueline Applebee retired to an eatery just around the corner from Sh! to continue the fun. I enjoy that part of the evening just as much as the readings because it means there’s lots more chat to be had, and since I hadn’t really had chance to speak to Jacqueline Applebee much beforehand, it was great to get to know her a little. We had some writer chat, and quite the discussion on comic book movies and the abundance of totty they’ve been filled with this year.

Overall, a very fun evening! Can’t wait to do it all again! ๐Ÿ™‚ I did mention a potential Seducing the Myth reading to Jo… so watch this space!

UK Meet – A Meeting of Minds

Last Saturday I attended the UK Meet, a get-together for fans and writers of MM / FF, GLBT. It was the first time I’d really attended anything like it, so I didn’t really know what to expect. I’d already had some involvement with the organisers as I contributed to both anthologies that were put together for the meet, British Flash and Tea and Crumpet, but other than that I had no idea what to expect.

British FlashLuckily, my buddy Victoria Blisse was in attendance so I knew one person, at least! Us Northern birds would stick together. My OH kindly offered to play taxi, so we collected Ms. Blisse from Milton Keynes train station and the fun began! We got to the venue in plenty of time, which was fine because it gave us more time for chinwagging, which we’re ohhh, so very good at.

A while later, more and more people started to arrive and proceedings began. We all stood up in turn and gave a brief introduction of ourselves and whether we were readers, writers or both. Then there was some general chatter and we broke for lunch which gave us time to eat, of course, and also to talk and mingle with people. Victoria introduced me to Serena Yates, who I’d previously corresponded with by email, but was happy to meet and found her a delight to chat with. I chatted to a few others and had my fill of naughty foods, checked out the promo goodies on the table and generally soaked up the atmosphere.

Tea and CrumpetAfter lunch, Ms. Blisse herself chaired a panel on writer’s block, which was fabulous. In her usual chatty, friendly and humorous style, Victoria made her points in a fun way and had us all giggling. And very good points they were too – she made several suggestions on how to beat writer’s block, but rather than repeating them all, I’ll direct you to her blog post where she’s done a recap.

Next up were Total-E-Bound, who gave a fabulous presentation and basically consolidated my previous conceptions of them (which were very good) and made me even more eager to work with them. Claire and Heidi were very friendly and approachable, but also know what they’re talking about and give the impression of a company that knows what they’re doing and are eager to please both their authors and their customers. I look forward to visiting with them in September when they’re hosting an open day.

Following on from Total-E-Bound were a trio of historical writers, Erastes, Charlie Cochrane and Alex Beecroft, who gave excellent tips on writing historicals. Comments included the importance of research, not needing to go into silly amounts of detail, information on dialogue and dialect and more. I haven’t really considered writing a historical before, mainly because the idea of all the research and getting facts wrong frightens the life out of me, but the three writers on the panel certainly made it seem less daunting. So, never say never!

Clare London was up next, talking promo – my favourite! She made lots of very valid and interesting points on websites, Twitter, Facebook, forums and more. What I liked was her way of using visual aids to break up the presentation and also bring in a bit of humour and talking points. I know lots of people find promo daunting (hence setting up my business!) but Clare reminded people that it can be done, and successfully!

We ran out of time for the previously arranged panels, but I would say that the ones that did happen were informative and useful, and people definitely took things away from it. We were encouraged to ask questions which opened up discussion to the whole room and as a result, many ideas were thrown about. I certainly have some food for thought.

A mass signing session wrapped up the day for me, where I passed my contributor copy of Tea and Crumpet around to get it signed by the other authors and then had to dash to get lovely Victoria back to the train station on time.

Despite the fact the majority of the writers in attendance were m/m, I still felt the day was worth it for me. So much of the information was relevant to writing in general, and not specific genres, that it wouldn’t have mattered what I wrote.

Overall, it was a very positive experience for me, and I’d definitely like to attend next year’s meet, if they’ll have me!
